The Treehouse of Different Views.

An interesting take on POTUS policy for China and NK.  I would very much be interested in the reaction from our esteemed members and even a few steamed ones.

President Trump Announces New Sanctions Against North Korea…

I do find it fascinating that the media coverage of the sanction actions is so shallow and thin.

I also find it amazing that Bush, Clinton and even Obama  did not use this level of sanctions. It is as if we were really playing to lose for the last three administrations.

Who Wants Lerner In Jail?

American citizens throw the red flag … the IRS is now under further review

Attention! Paging Attorney General Jeff Sessions! Please pick up the white phone in the lobby! America is on the line.

Earlier this month, the DOJ announced that they have declined to prosecute disgraced IRS official Lois Lerner. Lerner, a government employee became infamous for invoking a Fifth Amendment claim before Congress by refusing to testify. Congress could have obtained an order from a federal judge that would have compelled Lerner to testify before the Congressional Committee. Nothing happened other than some sort of negotiated agreement with Lerner’s attorney, which allowed … Continue reading

Singapore – The Destruction of Bad Misconceptions

So F1 is more than half way over. The middle season break of 2-3 weeks has come and gone, and some teams actually took advantage to improve their equipment. But not all. And it’s still humans that guide these sophisticated 4-wheel missiles.

It is no secret that I am a Lewis Hamilton fan. I think the young man has incredible talent and drives so well. Vettel is a nice guy, and also a fine driver, but I don’t have the same sense for him. Maybe it’s because he’s Swiss. And thank goodness the nasty Rosberg is gone.

Town Hall Meeting in the Village of the Darned — 8 PM Eastern Wednesday: Speech Code Edition

It’s that time of the week again, when we connect for another town hall meeting in the Village of the Darned.

Dime will be on around 8 PM EDT. BDB will likely be sleeping in after a long night of writing the speech code for this site. He will edit this post if he can make it earlier.

Jam a topic in the comments below and let people read up if you like.  Examples include suggestions for the speech code. The code will not merely bar particular words but also particular “hate facts”. I nominate the word “comb” as hate speech and conservation of energy as a hate fact. Or, how can this bug stay on the hood of a car on a high speed drive along I95:

The Long Knives Are Out On Rico

MJBubba reports in the GFKARA …. now known as the Happy Warriors:

Long Knives are out.
JcTPatriot was slapped with a Final Warning, on account of some Special Members decided to take offense at his gentle ribbing.
My advice to everyone is to stop making any replies in the comments, except to each other. It is time to circle the wagons.

TPTB (oh, that’s right, they hate that term), “management” has launched a pogram. Unlike the GFKARA, they are not happy. They do not like the rancor. And thus they have issued an Edict regarding words and newspeak. Directly aimed at the Happy … Continue reading

Last Dry Weekend

Life is to enjoy once you survive.  Having survived the week, the Red Headed Irish Wisecracker and I took the pickup and a long weekend on the way to celebrate the birth of our first child forty four years ago.

Rolling north , we decided to cruise to Olympic National Park. The sun, which turned out to be the last regular sun for the year was bright and the sky blue as we ascended to Hurricane Ridge on the peninsula.

Towards the end of the day , took a ferry across the Sound, always a great experience.
