Austin isn’t Texas, it’s the ANTI-Texas, example xxx…

I’ve long said that Austin is an invasive cancer in the body that is the great state of Texas, and Austin constantly proves me right:

Austin mayor skipping Veterans Day parade over Confederate flag

“While Mayor Steve Adler announced he will not march in Austin’s Veterans Day parade Saturday “because that parade will include groups carrying the Confederate flag,” … Instead, Adler said he will honor veterans on Veterans Day weekend by volunteering at the Central Texas Food Bank, which he said serves a large number of the local veteran community”.

So not only does he insult Texans, the manages a concern troll AND virtue signaling in one stroke with the food bank comment. Texans should wall Austin off, Escape From New York-style, physically containing it the … Continue reading

The mome raths outgrabe, or, how I want to improve accounting education for undergrads

As I mentioned on the call on Wed., I’m a grad student at UIUC, in their accountancy program. I love it. It is just challenging enough to be interesting without being overwhelming.

I want to teach accounting at the undergraduate level. Evidently, there is a shortage of accounting instructors, and many colleges have full time positions that don’t require a Ph.D. I’ve seen perhaps 3-4 job postings that only require a bachelors in accounting. I’ve seen a few that are tenure track, and the minimum education to apply was a masters. Of course, the top universities still want a Ph.D., but community colleges and smaller colleges are advertising jobs and only require a masters to apply.

Anyway, I have some general ideas about accounting education at the undergraduate … Continue reading

Diplomacy, Branding Style

http://www.dailywire.com/news/23375/watch-chinese-go-crazy-over-trumps-mandarin-joseph-curl

So we have a video at the link of  the President’s granddaughter singing a song in Mandarin, for the Chinese audience.

Let that sink in a bit.

To position America to the Chinese population, he set up this as the face forward.

We will either become wary cooperators with China for mutual interest or we are in for a very rough time.  They are not going away.

This is even better than ping pong.

Save us from professional diplomats.

Curmudgeon Musings After a Day of Work.

It seems we are drifting into an era of stalemate, and the globalist forces win a stalemate as it preserves the status quo.

One viewpoint to advance would be we have two political parties disintegrating, but a media, donor and elite class intact, and the public separating into three groups:

  • Passives- fear change, afraid of the future, cling to status quo (see NYC Mayor election)
  • National Populists- activists based on national driven themes
  • Social Populists- activists based on Social Justice themes
  • To defeat the elitists, I posit a leader needs to blend groups 2 and 3 into common cause over time.

    It may not be possible.

Conjoined twins have connected brain, different minds, see out of each others eyes

“Joined at the head, their brains are connected by a thalamic bridge which gives them neurological capabilities that researchers are only now beginning to understand… Krista and Tatiana Hogan share the senses of touch and taste and even control one another’s limbs. Tatiana can see out of both of Krista’s eyes, while Krista can only see out of one of Tatiana’s… Tatiana controls three arms and a leg, while Krista controls three legs and an arm. They can also switch to self-control of their limbs…”

The comments are interesting too, but are generally beyond my pay grade.

    Sweeping gun reform?

It occurs to me that the next time Dems have control the way they did after 2010, they might do with guns what they did with health insurance. This might sound preposterous. However, I didn’t think they’d get away with their health insurance reform, yet they did. There are 2A Dems, but it seems to me that their numbers are in steep decline.

What do you think? Am I imagining things or does this seem plausible?

    Cheap date night

I am snuggled up with Snooks on a comfy sofa at home.   I left work at a decent time, and took her out to a mid-price restaurant, and we came home for a dessert comprised of Baptist Church Lady Fundraiser cookies.

Then I made mimosas (her choice) and set up to watch the 2016 election night coverage.   CNN was schadenfreude at once.   NBC was pretty amusing.   For an almost painful review, we looked at PBS, but that was such high distress that she made me switch away.   We watched Fox and Breitbart, and now she is bringing up ABC for fresh entertainment value.   While she is pulling that one up on one screen, I have Morning Joe from the following morning running on the other.

This is a great date.   Good for … Continue reading
