Let’s do this thing. VILLAGE OF THE DARNED — GRATEFUL EDITION (about 645 PM Eastern)

What time do we do this thing?  I’ll be on somewhat early.  You people who move clocks around all the time just because the government tells you to have confused me again.  I don;t know what time you all do things anymore.

I’ll be on from about 0830 my time.  I will be on early and will have to go early as well.

Update — will take a shower after the wife, so I’ll be on about 0845 my time, which is 1845 Eastern, or 645 PM for those who can’t read a clock.

What are you grateful for?  Besides the string of military victories and deliveries from ruin for which George Washington proclaimed the Holiday.

Monday Monday

Being an   unregistered and uncertified Curmudgeon, I have seen, Forrest Gump like , the changes in society and our political culture this march of technology has wrought.

Going from a day when the number of memo copies was based on how many carbons you could convince a secretary (that is what they were called back then) to jam in her Selectric (Answer 4, 5 if you got a good one) to todays ubiquitous sharing of instant video globally has been a wonder, but also a loss of things like:

Reflection, Proofreading, Time to consider secondary effects, Questions like “Why are two hundred people on the copy list?”.

As in war (See Civil War,  USA) when the weaponry outstrips the tactics and practice, our communications technology is beyond … Continue reading

You can’t make a buck anymore just for being a Friend of Bill and Hill

This is a story about the closing up shop of the Podesta Group.   This might give you, as Ms. RightAngles might say, “a terminal case of schadenfreude.”

“The firm as it existed is essentially over,” one Podesta Group staffer said. “The vast majority of people are going their own way.”

At an emotional staff meeting late Thursday afternoon, Fritts told staffers they could clear out their offices and said that Wednesday might be their last payday.    “We will try to compensate you on the 30th, but we can’t make any promises,” Fritts said, according to one staffer who was in the meeting.   …

“I kind of feel like the ball’s in his court after last night,” one Podesta Group staffer said, referring to Podesta. “His name’s on … Continue reading

Curmudgeon Musings with Seasoning

Sorry I have been off the air, the latest salvage operation has been a bit consuming. Today I have a happy client who just got a financial reprieve. He can keep his business if he can just deliver his plan.  Some small town bankers who bet on character still exist, despite many attempts to eradicate them by our elites.

I find myself watching less news as the frenzy of charge and counter charge on moving targets on he said she said media amplified things long past play out.

Meanwhile, I sense a desperation from the GOPe on the course ahead.  If the tax bill passes in any form, the economy will explode into growth not seen since the 1980s. If the usual gang of Senators block it, it … Continue reading

fake news spread to undercut D. Brazile

“…one of the primary ways that democracy is degraded by platforms such as Facebook and Twitter is, for obvious reasons, typically ignored in such discussions: the way they are used by American journalists to endorse factually false claims that quickly spread and become viral, entrenched into narratives, and thus, can never be adequately corrected.”

small Trump victory at NLRB

Senator Alexander posted this Washington Examiner article onto his website.

The Senate voted 49-46 on Wednesday to confirm business lawyer Peter Robb as the next general counsel for the National Labor Relations Board, the main federal labor law enforcement agency.

Robb replaces President Obama’s appointee, Richard Griffin, who gained a reputation for pro-labor activism during his time on the board.

Robb was the attorney who litigated President Reagan’s firing of the striking Air Traffic Controllers Association members in 1981.
