Contradictions, You Gotta Love Em

Here is a brain teaser:

  • EPA and Interior Dept fire half their scientist advisors to “Clean house from Obama”
  • Coal mining comes back
  • Water and land use regulations are pared back
  • Ivanka will lead the Paris Climate Accord review

Please find the thing that is not like the others: No looking at your neighbors answer….

I am seeing the normal conservative hair shirt kneejerk when Trump does something symbolic despite concrete actions taking place. Ivanka terrifies the right and pisses off the left.  A great camouflage player.

Get used to symbolic dissonance.  The President does not care about verbal integrity, just results.

If we kiss the Paris Climate accords but make noises about reserving the right to modify the impact, it is just words, as sincere as the … Continue reading

A Simple Solution

https://amgreatness.com/2017/03/25/whats-in-a-doctrine/

Can it be this simple? A strategic policy of self interest first, middle and last?

But that does not require elaborate explanations of why doing the stupid is necessary in tomes of polysyllables.

It does not require a massive number of mouth flappers who explain why we need to ‘understand’ other cultures.

It just requires a handful of tough guys and gals and an ass kicking military with economic power.

Seems too simple, but then again, never confuse simple with easy. Often the complex is the lazy man’s game.

An Unreported Trend

I have talked before about the surge in small business, about the dollars that have been on the sidelines now being deployed by business owners into expansion, capital equipment and new product and services.

This is the unreported sector, the subchapter S and LLC businesses that get scant mention from the WSJ and Bloomberg and no mention in the media.

Today, I needed to find an office manager for a client. Six owners of temp agencies tell me now they are recruiting talent as few are flocking to their doors.  They cannot keep people . Also, even temps are refusing part time gigs.

All this is in a state that is doing it’s best to pass a gross sales income tax to match an insanely high personal income … Continue reading

Perspective Musings

I attended the services for my older sister last week and during the course of that I saw and interacted with generations of the clan from children to teenage to millennial to geezers and all the points in between.

On the long flight back, I pondered the sharing of perspectives. My nephew, who is fifty but will always be thirteen in my mind, gave a eulogy to my sister, his mother that opened up a view I could grasp but never appreciated. He talked about being raised as the only child of a single mother, struggling with the economics and striving to better their condition. While I knew that, my view of my sister was always from the family we shared growing up, not her struggles as a … Continue reading

A Lifetime , A Moment In Time

One issue with achieving advanced age is the loss of those you know. Today, I learned by sister died after a long series of health issues. She suffered from kidney failure along with severe circulation problems and her health had been failing for the last few years. She was 69.

It leaves my brother and me as the remnants of the family of my youth. My brother had been her caregiver for the last few years, and in many ways I am conflicted as her passing allows him to enjoy the remaining l time he has with more freedom of action.

We are booked on a NYC bound plane Tuesday and expect a few days of familial group process, seeing people and places I have not seen in a … Continue reading

Grit

I found this story heartening in the midst of watching  Antifa punks play at street thuggery in the US.

This family reacted with strength, helping others and getting under cover with real villains pouring fire into innocents on the street.

“I was very proud of how my wife and three boys reacted. They were urgent, but not panicked. There are people panicking everywhere. One lady with a baby fell down, and my son helped her up. Then another lady fell down and hit her head, and I helped her up,” he notes

Countermove.

It seemed inevitable , but the streets are now not the sole possession of the paid progressives. In areas where the police are deliberately held back by the progressive politicians, the counter movement is now springing up.

It is not a good sign, as this can spin out of control quite easily. I would bet the anti progressive thugs group is not a paid group.
