A Moment of Reflection at 100 Degrees

My older brother has arrived for a visit. He is my senior by seven years and is well into his retirement on two pensions and a lot of friends.

We are a contrast to many.  He never left home, just ending a two decades stint of caregiving and running the household for my mother and then our sister, who just passed a few months ago.

He is respected in his community, the go to guy for car and household repair, active in the church and other community organizations.

I left home at 17 and never really came back except for visits. I married , he did not. I travelled the world, survived some serious near misses , did the corporate thing, met the celebrities of our time , … Continue reading

Grandfather Duty

One of the burdens and joys of being a grandpa is you become , with grandma, the  oracle of family history. Grandma will remember all the names and relationships, but it can be grandpa’s duty to put the world in context to the family.

We were at the excellent Museum of Flight in Seattle with my daughter and family. The two oldest girls loved the interactive parts, where you could launch a rocket or crash the lunar lander. When it came to just looking at history it was harder for them to get excited.

I did the best I could and found a link. The Redheaded Irish Wisecracker’s dad worked for Republic Aviation during WW2, and was refused military service because of his skills in supervising the production lines for … Continue reading

I Was Reminded Of Warren Zevon Today…

Another day in the arena of the courtroom.  A nice guy who is good at digging holes got screwed by a large undercapitalized general contractor who decided not to pay him after he went deep into debt to buy equipment to deliver their work.

Being an independent sort, he tried to fix an impossible cash flow hole by himself for almost two years before disaster hit.

As usual ,the US Attorney is trying to throw him to the wolves on a million legal fictions . She is an Obama holdover who seems to dislike whites, men and male Caucasians in random order.

So once again, on the witness stand, being cross examined by this entrenched swamp creature, explaining the situation to the attorneys for those owed money (Including the … Continue reading

Under the Radar

Meanwhile, the shift in voters continues, along with donors and allegiances.

Richard Trumka, AFL-CIO  executive is said to visit the White House weekly and is on the phone daily.  http://iotwreport.com/afl-cio-union-boss-trumka-says-trump-better-than-obama-on-trade/

This is a pillar of the Democrat support structure. Apparently , he understands the aspect of leadership that when your followers are going a different direction, it is best to get in front of them and yell “Follow Me!”

Here is where purists on the right will choke. To win WW2, we cut a deal with Stalin. To beat back the progressives, we need to cut a deal with Trumka. We just need to keep the deal short term.

The real enemy is the SEIU, who has a vested interest in the swamp.

The progressives are highly … Continue reading

A Voice Worth Your Time

It is always good when someone you respect agrees with you. VDH is unique in his calm and reasoned way to observe and arrange the obvious such that even the Never-rights reluctantly have to pay attention.  His latest is a fine piece and worth your time.

I do believe we are facing a nation as divided as the one Lincoln got. Our political class is still as lousy as the one that presided over that era.

We will make some progress, but it will be a god awful fight uphill with one foot in a bucket and taking fire.

I do believe the more the courts , the media and the political class keeps attacking Trump, the more his support will solidify. I may be wrong, … Continue reading

At the Corner of Sunset Boulevard and Technology Highway

The paradigm is shifting again and as usual, nobody is noticing very much.

Having spent my time in the high tech world and spent half the 90s in silicon valley, I observed a number of folks who were changing the world.

When I was asked , usually at some bar in Oakland, or Pleasanton or San Mateo for my take on who was changing  things the most, who was causing the most disruption, I would always pick my go to disruptor- Mr Bezos and Amazon.

He has really changed the daily lives of people, changed the nature of retail, created untold startup opportunities and it continues.    Windows and the Iphone were just progressions of tech, but Amazon really changed things.

Now we have the new stuff.

Is That The Best You Got, Deep State?

I watched a six foot eight weasel attempting to act like a power broker. I am sure the folks who sent him there thought this would work. I am sure the Progressive Senators thought it would be a killshot.

I was getting worried about the Deep State. Now I am wondering if they are an Austin Powers villain.

The Media and their DNC lackeys did everything they could and it was one big yawn. Careful phrases like ‘Obstruction of Justice” and “Improper behavior” and “Collusion” have been uttered past the point of having any meaning.

The Deep State put on a show for the Deep State and even the Deep State thought is was a bust.

Oh well, when in doubt, follow the advice of the esteemed Mr … Continue reading

That Odor of Self Righteous Swamp Fish

So, after  months of classified compromising leaks, the best the deep state can deliver is some sacrificial lamb with a leak that sort of if you look at it sideways supports the “Russians Hacked The Election”  justification for the illegal surveillance of American Citizens for political purposes?

Amazing. I am Amazed. Will she disappear in a puff of smoke before trial?

Do they expect us to believe that “Reality Winner”  is the mastermind here?

They really do just want sharks with frickin lasers on their heads, don’t they?
