A Curmudgeon Drives With A Flux Capacitor.

This weekend was fun living in the future.

My vehicle strategy is a bit off the norm, I have a tendency to buy new, well equipped and heavily warrantied vehicles near each other in time and then proceed to drive them for ten to twenty years.  Our faithful companions are being retired, one going to number one son who has had his eye on it for years -(2000 Lincoln LS V8)  and the other either being donated or sold to a needy family who is desperate for basic transportation (1998 Ford Expedition).

My   F-150 crew cab is on order at the factory, but today’s treatise is about the Red Headed Irish Wisecracker’s  new ride, the Explorer Platinum Edition.

Next Round

Joel Pollack has an interesting take on the President. He has been a calm and unfevered supporter for a while and is worth reading. His latest on the health insurance  fubar in the House is  here:

I do know Trump had been signaling the message to the voters that if this failed, they would get stuck with what they had. A lot of folks made the perfect the enemy of the good on this one, but given the lack of will it was too cumbersome too succeed.

I recommend they keep OCare for those that want it and let the rest of us have real insurance. “If you like your overpriced coverage and limited doctors and high deductables, you can keep it until no one offers … Continue reading

Not Tired of the Winning Yet

So we have a bit more good news. From my little perch, I am seeing domestic economic activity not seen since the 1980s with construction, manufacturing expansion and new capital equipment on order.

Meanwhile, down Brent’s way the other good news is rolling in.

Oil-Exports

So Trump puts two Texans in charge of State and Energy so we can exploit a   foreign policy hand full of aces against Russia, Iran and China. We can engage in the ME when we need to , not from necessity.  The piece below lines it out fairly well.  Brent- let me know if I am overblowing this…

The Best Part of Waking Up is Revenge In Your Cup

http://www.breitbart.com/video/2017/03/22/house-intelligence-chair-nunes-surveillance-trump-transition-team-incidentally-collected/

This is just good fun now.   I would fire Comey and the team that did this very publicly, with jail time.

I would guess the WSJ might wish they had exercised more judgement on their editorial page.

Oh well. Time for another Media Memory Hole Exercise.

Iconography Interpretation for Practical Use

When Obama was the leader, his supporters created icons to show the depth of their spiritual commitment.

Here is one of the many Obama as Messiah and Light Bringer Icons.

obama messiah

Now we have , shall we say, a different kind of leader and I have noticed a distinct style and theme for the iconography surrounding our new President by his ardent supporters

So one group gets hysterical and a bit childlike when their icon is gone.

What do you think the other group … Continue reading

An Idea Whose Time Has Come Again

In 1868, on this day, after a bloody conflict, we ratified the 14th amendment.

A fundamental statement of America, it defined equality of all individuals under the law.

Today we fight a movement who uses division, favoritism and demonization to redistribute freedom and wealth from one group to another  while espousing the principles won with the lives of many.

Conservatives seem to have gotten their image of equality under the law wrong for many , while being the true believers in it, while their adversaries oppose it while having the image of embrace.

I would suggest that our side embrace this principle for real, make it the sword and shield for all things in the future. Citizens equal under the law. No special rights by birth, victimhood or … Continue reading

Judicial Process By Del Shannon

I see a collision of wills happening with the District Courts grabbing executive power. At this point, the President is in two critical struggles that will define his success, replacing OCare and getting the tax system fixed. He cannot ignite a media storm about judicial fights while they are underway.

Sad as it may by, I believe the strategy is the following:

  • Wait for the SCOTUS nominee to get on the court
  • Slow walk the appeals until then
  • Hope no incident of terror or heinous crime occurs in the meantime by a refugee or visa holder from one of the countries in the order
  • Maintain the rallies and label the judges as overreaching

If there is an incident , I expect he will either declare the … Continue reading

Budget Boogie

I am loving this one. The President just assembled a herd of sacred cows and marked them for slaughter. He knows his GOP congress will wilt under the pressure from the media on cutting anything, much less Big Bird , the funders of Piss Christ and the United Nations.

He also knows many of the same members are going to be posturing with extreme prejudice on the costs of replacing OCare, infrastructure and the tax cuts.

“So Senator, if you are so concerned about the spending here, where was that when you supported Big Bird and the NEA?”

Attitude Check

Is it me or has the pace of anxiety changed and we are settling into the new normal of Trump at the Wheel?

I know I am much less enthused at the latest Washington DC breathless catastrophe by saying it wrong and the eternal gotcha nonsense.

Congress is bungling and arguing , which is their other setting after leaving town and doing nothing.

The economy is moving quite nicely.  I talked to an excavator who has jobs coming out of the woodwork for commercial foundations and new housing. New restaurants, new offices, new factories.

Apparently a lot of money is coming off the sidelines and out of Bill Devane’s safe.

Me, I still check in, but I am finding that without Obama and the Dems running the executive, … Continue reading
