Clara Binski

That crazy cat woman is at it again.  I had reason to think, from a comment here, that she had departed the cafeteria, or at least stopped chasing out paying customers with her panhandling from behind the counter and general miasma of cat piss, but no.  Right bang up on the menu is another entry describing how very very wrong she was, and in plenty of condescending, self-righteous, progressive RINO-splaining agony.  Here’s a dirty word– let me explain it to you — in French.

That’s not a cafeteria.  That’s a cat box.  What’s French for cat box?

A Coal in the Embers

You can accept a person without accepting their ideology. You need not believe what they believe, not approve of it, not even in them, nor grant “tolerance” of a thing you abhor — in order to recognize a fellow and friend in a person you know.
Not all friends are of the same order. Not all beliefs must be accorded the same respect.
I have friends who adhere to a larger ideology which I find despicable, monstrous, satanic. Yet these men are proven heroes, worthy of respect and no small degree of admiration.
When my friend does not slay the infidel, nor kill the Jew, neither push to expand the realm of Jihad and Sharia nor draw a bloody line between that dar al Islam … Continue reading

Trinity Waters’ Travels

In our pursuit of enjoying Mother Nature’s gifts, here’s what Julia and I use to survive the wilds of State parks and RV resorts:

It has a generator, a walk around king size bed, a bathroom with a 3×4 shower and two vanities, a kitchen with an island sink and dishwasher, and a living room with two power theater recliners facing a 60 inch TV with Klipsch surround sound via a bluetooth subwoofer.  Just the minimums.  For full info, visit:  http://www.forestriverinc.com/product-details.aspx?LineID=390&ModelID=2768#Main

The very defensible reason for this level of “camping” is explained by what we must leave behind to enjoy this RV.  A view from … Continue reading

Philosophical Questions

How does one fairly label people?

Does a person become part of a group by saying they are part of a group or do they become part of the group by actually following the positions of the group? For example when does a person stop being part of the Conservative, Libertarian, Liberal, or [your pick ism]? Do we need to add adjectives to delineate between the groups?

If say 10% of the group does terrible things can you say the whole group is like this? (Especially if the larger part of the group does not denounce them.) If say 10% is good can the whole group claim goodness?

I like this story for death defying logic.

Harvey Update

I am wondering how people are doing. I am writing this post because the situation is fluid. (bad pun) How people were doing after the initial storm is not the same as they are doing now.

I got a hold of someone who could tell me that Boymoose missed the flood hitting his house by an inch. The garage was not so lucky.

Does anyone know about SeaWriter’s place? Aaron Miller if I remember correctly lives in the area so him too?

The Illegitimi Grind Another One Down

Sad day here. One of my basket cases going through Chapter 11 is giving it up.  Between the prolongation of the case by a seriously OCD Federal Judge, a vindictive Federal Trustee who keeps trying to prove malfeasance and the actions of a Progressive Government passing a ridiculous minimum wage law state wide, the three restaurant business is going under.

Once the wages were mandated , full service restaurants that were middle priced were doomed. Chipolte and other ‘fast fresh’ models would dominate.

The Judge took every minor accusation and demanded a full blown investigation , which took the available cash from a start point of $300,000 and dwindled it to $100,000 in professional fees to rebut the charges over a two year period.  They happened to be … Continue reading

What’s Wrong with Hugh Hewitt?

I remember in 2008 how many of us listeners mentioned to Hugh (and this happened on Michael Medved’s show, too) that Obama is a Socialist (really, he’s a Marxist) and he refused to let callers continue, dismissing them immediately. He later admitted that Obama was a socialist in 2012. Too late, of course.

Since he’s been on MSNBC and other mainstream shows he’s defended the MSM personalities to his listeners and talked about how nice they all are. It’s difficult to listen to his interviews of some of these people as he never gives them any difficult or challenging questions. With them he’s become a shill and it’s embarrassing and it’s obvious.

When Robert Mueller was appointed as a special prosecutor he was lavish in his praise, insisting … Continue reading

A Voice from the Past

A week or so ago, I finished reading Tramp Royale by Robert Heinlein. It is a travelogue documenting an around-the-world trip Heinlein and his wife took in 1953-54 by ship, rail, and airplane. Mostly, the book is a light-hearted description of their travels with his wife (Ginny, aka “Ticky” in the book) humorously cast as his troublemaker companion. She published the book in 1992, after her husband’s death.

This is not a book review. It is the book’s concluding passage, extensively quoted below, that struck me as applicable today as it was over 60 years ago. Heinlein speaks of America’s many enemies and few friends abroad … Continue reading

Right Angles, Natural Disaster Correspondent, Reporting From Houston!

Dateline: Houston, Texas

President Trump and the First Lady arrived in Houston yesterday to survey the damage wrought by Hurricane Harvey. But the purpose of the trip was overshadowed by reactions to Melania Trump’s footwear, which is obviously of much greater import than a little water damage, thousands of lost houses and businesses, and some dead people. I mean let’s get our priorities straight here. Am I right?

On the ground at the White House, CNN’s I.M. Amoron reported: “Melania Trump just boarded the plane in stiletto heels. One has to wonder what she was thinking when she got dressed this morning. It looks to me like she was thinking only of herself as usual. It’s just more evidence of the disconnect. Which is my new favorite word. … Continue reading
