An update from south of PDX on Christmas morning.    The lit tree is a dwarf Obtusa Cypress; he’s the linch pin of the pond.   A bit of frost here in what is known locally as the Banana Belt, twenty miles south of Portland:

The perp who stole my pistol and other sundry items from my truck a few weeks ago is still in the slammer, and they’ve upped the charges to attempted murder of a police officer. Suppose I won’t have to worry for quite some time about a repeat visit from him. I’ll likely have to testify at his trial since I captured video of him stealing my pistol after he arrived at the front of my house in a stolen pickup. Bet he wishes he hadn’t stolen my pistol now.

There are two entities worthy of hate. Microsoft’s Win10 became corrupted and wouldn’t update its version, so after TWO days of MS level two intervention, I’ve had to wipe C:/ and start over. That leads to iTunes reloading and its concomitant misery. I will kick their respective asses, though. Pray for me.

About a month ago our truck was emptied of any portable valuables, including a very nice Kahr CM40 pocket pistol. Since then, after application of a couple thousand bucks, I’ve replaced all the stolen items. Oddly, he even took a spare set of keys to our fifth wheel, so that necessitated changing all the locks. That alone was $700, because of course I have wireless entry. Then another $500 to set up a new security light dedicated to the truck, and $750 for a new wireless 8-camera security video system with 4TB of memory. I replaced the pistol with a new Smith and Wesson M&P Shield 40cal S&W pocket pistol with Crimson Trace designed into the frame. Sweet! On 9-11-09 I was floating in my boat, just looking around, in the headwaters of the Metolius River arm of Lake Billy Chinook in central Oregon.  This bird was soaking up some afternoon sun.  Lucky me.
