The Main Street Economy

The year is ending in a big flurry of economic activity, the main street kind. The learned elites sense it from retail sales, but there is more tangible stuff going on.

I just helped a client buy a new commercial van. The dealers are selling out of inventory and are scrambling as businesses rush to replace aging fleets. I had to give an order to a dealer across a mountain range to get the model   needed, as all others were sold out.

Housing and commercial extension  new construction is hitting a pace not seen in decades. Wages are rising for skilled labor.

The halfway house for felons are having no trouble finding jobs these days. All they have to do is show up sober and work is … Continue reading

Trump Administration v. the U.N., re. Israel

Lots of anti-Israel resolutions have been voted for at the United Nations.  Until last year at this time, the United States used our Security Council powers to veto them.  Last December, Team Obama deliberately allowed one of these resolutions to get passed and made a public pronouncement as they stood by and failed to act.

Egypt introduced a new resolution that would have forced all U.N. member states to comply with last year’s anti-Israel resolution.  Team Trump cast a veto.

U.N. Ambassador Nikki Haley gave two brief speeches, before and after the veto.  You can read the transcripts of both speeches at this link:

Here is the second half of her second speech, which gives you everything you need to see:

Say Good-Bye to These

Dime has a new site up.  Not sure how much I’m supposed to say about it, ahem, but it looks like it will be a lot of fun.  If you miss the forum we had here for a while, www.ratburger.org may be exactly what you’re looking for.  In fact, their systemization of posts as longer, shorter, and snippets is one of the things I tried to get done with a forum, but, well… issues.

I’m proud to be on the rolls over there, and I’ll contribute when I can!  Meanwhile, we’ll keep on keepin’ on right here.

Russian collusion !

“The Russian President Vladimir Putin has thanked his US counterpart Donald Trump for help in preventing a terrorist attack in St. Petersburg. Data provided by the CIA enabled Russian security services to find and detain terrorists.”

This is collusion that should be congratulated.  This is a win for the U.S.A.

“…Russian Federal Security Service (FSB) arrested the members of a terrorist cell linked to Islamic State (IS, formerly ISIS) in the Russian city of St. Petersburg. The extremists were planning a series of attacks on public places, including a suicide bombing and an explosion in Kazan’s Cathedral in the center of the city.

During the raid, conducted overnight from Wednesday to Thursday, the FSB seized a large amount of explosives, weapons and ammunition and dismantled a bomb-making … Continue reading

Robbery Update

The perp who stole my pistol and other sundry items from my truck a few weeks ago is still in the slammer, and they’ve upped the charges to attempted murder of a police officer. Suppose I won’t have to worry for quite some time about a repeat visit from him. I’ll likely have to testify at his trial since I captured video of him stealing my pistol after he arrived at the front of my house in a stolen pickup. Bet he wishes he hadn’t stolen my pistol now.

Dime Update

I have been busy trying to finish things up for this year. While I was doing things I thought about trying my hand at starting and online forum ala familywoodworking.org in vBulletin. I bought a book and everything.

I knew BDB was busy and wanted a few more functions. I also wanted to know how hard that task would be. I contacted John Walker. He gave me some good ideas and help. That happened five days ago. Things happened very quickly and the site is up. As BDB and MLH know sites take time and energy.

I want to thank all you BDBers for putting up with me these past months. All the best!!
