Sorry I have been off the air, the latest salvage operation has been a bit consuming. Today I have a happy client who just got a financial reprieve. He can keep his business if he can just deliver his plan. Some small town bankers who bet on character still exist, despite many attempts to eradicate them by our elites.
I find myself watching less news as the frenzy of charge and counter charge on moving targets on he said she said media amplified things long past play out.
Meanwhile, I sense a desperation from the GOPe on the course ahead. If the tax bill passes in any form, the economy will explode into growth not seen since the 1980s. If the usual gang of Senators block it, it will be obvious. There will be no blaming the Democrats, just the usual gang of pompous clowns. POTUS showed them that he is adept at laying failure at their feet with the Obamacare debacle.
I expect McConnell realizes he is at the end of his tether- he either delivers or fades away.
If Roy Moore wins his election, the GOPe will realize the voters are not going away.
If he does not, the trench warfare will continue and the media will continue to think it can influence events.
The GOPe is dead no matter what.
There is simply no constituency for the boundless ineptitude displayed by these folks.
McConnell needs to go, obviously. He’s radioactive to the base. Even if he was politically competent, that alone means he should depart to enjoy that sweet sweet government pension and all the wealth he has been able too gather up courtesy of his position- I mean because of his acumen about where to invest. Whew! I almost went cynical there.
But anyway, he isn’t politically competent. He dumped millions into the Luther Strange campaign, winning him a big goose egg along with an even angrier base, yet apparently the millions spent couldn’t detect the incipient women troubles of Roy Moore. Oopsie. Now perhaps those troubles are all phony, explaining why the gopes failed to detect them- but then McConnell immediately condemned Moore, with the usual gope suspects demanding he drop out, after the time when he could be replaced on the ballot.
Smart, this isn’t. Either the gopes should have found out about the women and warned the voters before Moore won, or they should have attempted a defense, if only because the base is tired of this sort of gotcha from the left.
It’s even worse if McConnell et al are complicit in breaking the story- which I’ve read- because if they knew about it all along then- again- they should have told the voters before they voted.
And McConnell is the leader, presumably the sharpest turnip in the drawer. Others are much worse. Jeff Flake managed to work his way into an 18% approval rating in Arizona. Bob Corker gained infamy by engineering cover for Obama’s Iran deal. John McCain seems to remain a Republican only so he can more effectively stab the party in the back.
Even assuming the true goal of the GOP is to lose, they’re still failing, because they’re driving people away from voting for them.
Hence Trump, and hence Roy Moore, etc.
“presumably the sharpest turnip in the drawer”
That phrase is truly a gift. Thanks.
Thank you for that. As far as I can recall I didn’t crib that phrase from someone else so I appreciate your comment all the more.
