Delegitimizing The Election

Perhaps it’s a fringe effort. perhaps it doesn’t really represent mainstream democrats. Call me paranoid.

But I see a steady and concerted effort to somehow overthrow the results of the last election. One approach has been the so-called Jefferson group calling upon the Electoral College delegates to change their vote. The actual change in how a delegate voted in the EC has only happened some 29 times in our whole history. Yet they are asking at least 30-some delegates to change their vote. AND apparently some delegates are acting badly, asking they be “briefed” on Russian hacking.

Which of course brings us to the second point – Russian hacking. I would not doubt that the Russians, among others, have hacked or attempted to hack, our computer systems. Indeed, IIRC, there … Continue reading

The Risk of Winning (or Losing for that Matter)

We just held a singular election. The winner was by no means obvious, at least to the great cognoscenti, who inform us of our opinions, our interests, and what is “right”. So, we were told, it is OK to vote for a liar, corrupt politician, and obfuscator but it was not OK to vote for a guy who made millions (nay, billions) and has a motor mouth. AND happens to say totally “incorrect” things. Like we need new deals with the world on trade. Or we need to control our borders. Or we need to send out illegals who are causing problems. OR — we need to actually consider what our real interests are and then defend them.

The new cabinet is forming. It appears to be quite … Continue reading

Burn, Baby, Burn!

Recently there has been a brouhaha over Trump saying that burning the American flag should have consequences. There have been many responses. Perhaps the most common answer is that the Supreme Court has ruled that it’s legal, a part of freedom of speech.

I get that. There is a sense that one should have the right to speak out against the nation and this is one means of doing so. But is it really.

The first thing to remember is that technically the Supreme Court does NOT make law. That is the realm of Congress. It is only since FDR time that the Supreme Court has taken to making law – although Madison vs Marbury can be viewed as “making law”. But it took that bandit Cardozo to unhook Congress … Continue reading

Secretary of War

Once upon a time this nation had a cabinet position of Secretary of the War Department. Clearly misguided, the Founders thought things ought to be simple, plainly labelled, and obvious to citizens.

So we once had the War Department. Judging from its plain English meaning, it was in charge of managing war and all the aspect of that that the nation might be involved in. We fought an ugly Civil War with just a War Department. The Army and the Navy were part of it. It was the most destructive war on our soil and the largest percentage casualties of any war we have ever fought, including WWI, WWII, Korea, and Vietnam

Then in 1947 we reorganized what had worked quite well in WWII – because the enemy … Continue reading

Where Now, Ted?

Back when things first started going in the primaries, I was a fan of Cruz. I even thought he put up a good fight for much of the race. However, the convention speech really turned me off. I thought Trump was very magnanimous in allowing rivals stage time. IIRC Romney was nowhere near that forgiving (think Ron Paul).

So where is Ted now?  Does he have a political future or has he burned all his bridges?  What do people think of him as a Supreme Court Justice?

In all the hoopala about Trump, I’m curious if Cruz is still a name to be reckoned with – in any capacity.

DEFENSE!

Not talking football here, or political posturing. I’m talking 2A! The ultimate defense. The last of the “boxes” – soap, ballot, cartridge.

So here’s a longish article by a guy who once made his living teaching self-defense, aimed at all the “liberals” who now are “terrified”. You will find humour in it, and some good advise if you aren’t already a “gun-totin’ heavy”. My personal favorite was the “LGBTWTFBBQ”.

A Handy Guide For Liberals Who Are Suddenly Interested In Gun Ownership

Tucker Carlson

Greta’s old place on Fox News has been temporarily covered by Brit Hume, a gentleman I admire for his honesty. No party BS there. But now we have a permanent replacement – Tucker Carlson.

I first noticed Tucker a while back when he showed up on some weekend shows. From there he went to the morning show where he was one of 3. His one characteristic, though, seemed to be a willingness to voice conservative positions and to ask tough questions. It must have made an impression somewhere because they just gave him the 7P EST slot.

I’ve watched his show a couple times this week, and so far I like it. He seems a friendly guy who asks more in-depth questions than one usually finds on TV.

Quiet Around Here

Wow! No one with anything to say. And we have such rich material to talk about.

Must be SOMETHING someone wants to put up. Nanda has celebrated her first anniversary as an honourary Marine. That’s noteworthy.

I am still working in Albuquerque. NM medicine seems kind of sad – at least to me. I had become accustomed to better. Seems a lot of basically lazy or avaristic docs. Kind of mean of me to say, but that’s how it looks from the outside.

?Anyone have anything interesting in their lives.
