    Sounds perfect. Marine, Wyoming, Aviator.

A friend of mine once joked that there were “Officers and Gentlemen” and then there were Marines. I will let you guess his branch of service.

What I have heard from a retired army guy is the Marines of all the services has kept the warrior ethos. It is because of this that they make better leaders.

If you talk to the SpecOps people, there isn’t much difference between the services. They have somewhat different skills, so they are used a bit differently, but they tend to be a lot alike, in attitude and training.

Where the differences come is in the rank and file. Here the Marines have a much smaller footprint, so they can define what is important and what is not better. Esprit de Corps has always been a component of the Corps. Marines look at the small things; if you take care of the small stuff, often the larger things fall into place.

Somewhere in DC there is a flagpole with the emblems of all 5 services forming the base. Only the Marine one shines. That’s because the Commandant sends a couple young Marines out every morning with a bottle or Brasso and cloth to shine up the emblem. Consider any other service that dedicated to its symbology.

Dev, you sure they are shining the Marine emblem. They might be tarnishing the other service emblems.

I visited the National Museum of the Marine Corps a few years ago after a business trip to Quantico. It was inspiring.

    Semper Fi.
