Lost in the clouds (again)….

Hello, anyone have directions to the Book Club?  Seems my GPS is faulty and is only able to locate places on earth; it has problems with cloud-space/web pages?

I admit I haven’t been to any book club “meetings” thus far,  nor do I recall the name of the book we are going to discuss  … still I am thinking of joining the meeting next week, just for fun; I think Nanda said it’s ok.     However, I can’t remember if the discussion is via chat or telephone.  Where it is, or how to get there.  Any clues or directions would be appreciated.  Of course, wanting to get there doesn’t guarantee I will actually be there.   :)    Sorry, but this is how it is with procrastinators.

Happy to be here!

My blood pressure and state of mind are both vastly improved since I got expelled from Ricochet U for a month.  I likely won’t return there.  Visiting this site is always a positive experience.  I’ll be around more now.  Thanks for hosting this site BDB, and thanks to those who help him.

Were these tears of joy or sorrow?

Hi all, I hope everybody is having a fantastic summer. I came across this video just a little while ago, and it occured to me to ask for your feedback. In particular, if there is a shrink in the house that would be fantastic. Here is my question: is this little boy crying tears of joy or tears of sorrow? He sure doesn’t look happy to me. Everybody and their dog is saying how great this is, but he just doesn’t look happy to me at all. He’s almost sobbing, isn’t he? What do you think?

Being raised vs. growing up

Wednesday night on the AMU, the conversation turned to a certain individual. We had some discussion about this person, and I wanted to share something here that is relevant. It is something I’ve pondered before, and I think it applies in the particular case we discussed. I think it applies in my own case, to be perfectly honest.

There is a difference between being raised and growing up. It is possible to grow up without being raised. For example, there is a spectrum between being well raised and being feral. Now, I am not suggesting that this person or myself is feral, lol. But I do think we fall somewhere on the spectrum below the “well raised” end.

I don’t mean to suggest that “not well raised” equals “rude.” … Continue reading

Linda Sarsour’s tweets about Sharia Law in the USA

If you are still paying interest than Sharia Law hasn't taken over America. #justsaying

— Linda Sarsour (@lsarsour) May 13, 2015

You'll know when you're living under Sharia Law if suddenly all your loans & credit cards become interest free. Sound nice, doesn't it?

She was one of the speakers at the Women’s March. The Left loves her.

Public Service Announcement

The site is getting some troll comments (in the”Add Comment Below” post). We haven’t had any in a long time. I’m not sure how it all works but I think the following helps:

-when you post a link make sure to not allow ping/track-backs and to have it open in a new tab/window.
-have video embeds open in a new tab/window.
-there is also not allowing a link to generate conversations (or some such).

Thanks.

Bill Whittle’s prediction after the 2012 election

I have mentioned elsewhere that I cried every night for at least a week after the 2012 presidential election. It really broke my heart. I campaigned for Romney quite a bit in the final weeks, even taking time off from work and using vacation time to do so. Plus I gave a substantial sum of money to the campaign.

After the loss and after my tears subsided, I found solace in a few places, one of which was this video from Bill Whittle. It made the rounds at that time, so you might have seen it. I think it is really good, remarkable in fact. Whittle not only made a cogent case for the conservative cause, he made a prediction about the 2016 presidential election. He predicted that … Continue reading

Tiffany Trump: how much will we see her?

Hi all! I hope you had a great holiday weekend. I had a fun time in Las Vegas with my mom and other family members, including my beautiful granddaughter.

OK so I assume you all know who I am. And so you all know my history of arguing about the importance of marriage and the family structure. So let me apply some of that to the Trump family. I have made a prediction about Tiffany Trump to myself, and I thought I’d share it with you here. I silently predicted a while ago that we would see much less of her than the other children. I know that she gave the RNC speech, but we haven’t seen much else of her, certainly not as much as the … Continue reading

Princess bride

That’s not my autobiography. I just had time the other day, so I decided to watch this movie. I imagine everyone not a kid has seen it–because I’ve seen quotes on the internet for more than a dozen years, in the weirdest places. The internet does have that about it–it makes things look universal, but also very dated… The story was pretty funny, but not extraordinary. More on that below. The main takeaway is that I used it make fun of Skip in the PIT. Unfortunately, he’s seen it, too, so he used it to make fun of me. That’s 90 minutes I shan’t get back in a hurry…

Now, the strangest thing about the comedy is that the good guys are full of excellences, but not particularly lawful, whereas the … Continue reading
