The Long Knives Are Out On Rico

MJBubba reports in the GFKARA …. now known as the Happy Warriors:

Long Knives are out.
JcTPatriot was slapped with a Final Warning, on account of some Special Members decided to take offense at his gentle ribbing.
My advice to everyone is to stop making any replies in the comments, except to each other. It is time to circle the wagons.

TPTB (oh, that’s right, they hate that term), “management” has launched a pogram. Unlike the GFKARA, they are not happy. They do not like the rancor. And thus they have issued an Edict regarding words and newspeak. Directly aimed at the Happy Group. Stay … Continue reading

Last Dry Weekend

Life is to enjoy once you survive.  Having survived the week, the Red Headed Irish Wisecracker and I took the pickup and a long weekend on the way to celebrate the birth of our first child forty four years ago.

Rolling north , we decided to cruise to Olympic National Park. The sun, which turned out to be the last regular sun for the year was bright and the sky blue as we ascended to Hurricane Ridge on the peninsula.

Towards the end of the day , took a ferry across the Sound, always a great experience.

My Life of Sen

I was at the store buying some things and pulled out some change. As I was handing out the changed I noticed one of my 10 yen coins was not like another. (My Sock’s eyes are 10 yen coins.)  I looked at it and it said 50 SEN on it. I wondered where I got it.

For those who are ignorant, V and B, the sen was 100 to 1 yen. In the old days the yen was paper and the sen was a coin. Now the yen are coins up to 500 and paper after a 1000. There are no sen coins in circulation now. So I have a half a yen coin which would make it less than a penny.

I looked it up online and … Continue reading

Thankful Triplet

Good things come in threes.

I have a friend that swears by “the write three things to be thankful for in the morning”. I know it is good to do that but I am not disciplined enough to write it down.

I will go for some quick and easy thanks.

  • Thankful that my mom made it to 91.
  • Thankful that my brother had his birthday. (One brother was lost on his birthday.)
  • Thankful for the BDB crowd. (The good ones.)
  • On a related note, how many of you journal? How many of you don’t?

    Typhoon 18 is Coming

I am in the red circle now. It is raining. Should I go outside and collapse an umbrella?

Yellow means Caution and Red means warning. My part of the country turned red a while back from yellow. It is 12:30 and the storm gets stronger from 6 pm on.

UPDATE: The storm has moved so it will pass right over my Sock Drawer. (I am a little north of the 日 in “1718時” on the Main Island.)

    Lost in the clouds (again)….

Hello, anyone have directions to the Book Club?  Seems my GPS is faulty and is only able to locate places on earth; it has problems with cloud-space/web pages?

I admit I haven’t been to any book club “meetings” thus far,  nor do I recall the name of the book we are going to discuss  … still I am thinking of joining the meeting next week, just for fun; I think Nanda said it’s ok.     However, I can’t remember if the discussion is via chat or telephone.  Where it is, or how to get there.  Any clues or directions would be appreciated.  Of course, wanting to get there doesn’t guarantee I will actually be there.   :)    Sorry, but this is how it is with procrastinators.

    Lessons for a New President

Donald Trump is a seasoned executive and leader, but still new in his present job. Like all newbies he is getting a lesson in how things work, unfortunately, it is going to be a very painful lesson for We the People.

I’ve read here and elsewhere that President Trump’s dance with the Democrats is a master tactic to expose the division and dysfunction of the Republicans. That division and dysfunction is legion for all to see. The President’s goal in dealing with Chuck and Nancy isn’t necessarily to enact long term meaningful Democrat priorities. His goal appears to be get something/anything done and shame Republicans into unifying and passing an agenda closer to his priorities.

I’ve no idea if this is in fact his strategy, but hope this … Continue reading
