Why Don’t They Understand

The thing with dealing with Trump is everything but everything has already been thrown at him. It is not as if anything more could be worse. People living with glass jaws should not throw punches.

I don’t know if I agree with Trump’s approach but he does go for the “jugular”. He sets up the image of weakness in his opponents. They look foolish when they react and prove his point. They never think of just laughing it off in not a sneering way but in a big way.

One must remember like the old joke about the two guys in the woods confronted with a bear. One went down and tied his shoes while the other said, “No one can outrun a bear.” He responded, “Yes, but all I have to do is outrun you.” Morning Joe tried to out trump Trump but forgot to even tie their shoes.

While the press is obsessing over Trump tweets, they fail to report this:
Germany has ‘massively weakened’ its climate action plan for next week’s G20 summit in Hamburg in order to appease Donald Trump.
    http://www.breitbart.com/big-government/2017/06/30/delingpole-germany-surrenders-to-trump-waters-down-g20-climate-plan-winning/

It’s almost as if the tweet distractions are planned.

You’re not kidding. I wouldn’t mess with Mad Dog Donald and this is precisely why I voted for him!

I think these people are trying to get into a twitter war with him. Colbert, Griffin, etc – they think baiting him into twittercizing them is a win for them. So far I think each one of them has lost against him.

I would like to mention another thing. Every time people like McCain or even Sasse or Chaffetz says to the media (or tweets) “Mr. President, please stop tweeting” my immediate reaction is, why don’t you do the adult thing and take your comment privately to the guy you have the beef with? They only give the media fuel to say ‘Even Republicans are criticizing the President.’ It is absolutely no help at all.

I like the tweets because as Tyrus on The Five says, “Trump is cutting out the middleman!”

As a fellow insomniac, I also appreciate that the president is still up at 3 a.m. or as he recently bellowed on Fox: “No naps!”

It is such a unique experience to both admire the accomplishments and the chutzpah of a man who manages to keep me laughing at the same time.

      Je l’adore.

    • 10 Cents10 Cents says:

If he could just stop being Trump that would also help, right?

What no one seems to get is that the tweets cause buzz. It is sideshow and people want an opera to fall asleep in.

I wonder when Joe Scarborough will give up his day job and go into singing full time.

  4. PencilvaniaPencilvania says:

Are they still engaged? Who didn’t see this coming after THAT announcement.

I read a quote from a story about this earlier today, do not recall where. The comment was:

Name one person who has ever got into a battle with Trump and won.

    • 10 Cents10 Cents says:

Ricochet, National Review, MSNBC, … oh wait you asked who won not who thought they won. My mistake.

      • BrentB67BrentB67 says:

Ricochet still thinks they are in the fight and and that just one more post and Rubio will win the primary and the world will smell of fresh baked cookies.

        Don’t tell FC that. Sssshhhhh.

Since you named the site that shall not be named (stop that!), have you been by there lately? I didn’t think it was possible, but it’s become even MORE boring than usual. If not for the occasional Trump/Never Trump whizzing match, it would be one giant black hole of dullness.

Now maybe all the action is on the member side but you can’t see what’s going on over there like in the olden days. Why anyone dropping by the public side would be motivated to pay to join that snooze-fest utterly mystifys me.

I have not been over there in a while. I hope they do well. I kid them but mean no harm.

I do have mixed feeling about them losing their wikipedia page. I think it was on the ides of March even.

Ricochet did show the way. They brought some wonderful people together. In fact some of the smartest I have ever encountered.

On a happier note, Molly Hemmingway and thefederalist.com is doing wonderfully. They have some good traffic and Molly is often on cable news giving good commentary.

I’m not sure my likes were properly ordered, so am re-liking BrentB67’s comment:

“Name one person who has ever got into a battle with Trump and won.”

    Just had to chime in.

I had a long talk with number one daughter who manages new pharmaceuticals to market and also writes for conservative pundit sites.

We often lock horns, but she , while not a Never Trump was a “I dislike Trump and think he is shallow but he is better than Hillary”, so the discussions usually end well.

Her passion is healthcare, since her own fate is tied up in how drug reimbursement goes. (Nothing like skin in the game to sharpen the mind).

Our last discussion ranged from her thinking the Mika tweet was a sign of stupidity and me saying I loved every minute. It then ranged to a rational and real health insurance plan. She despaired of the fact that a good open market plan would be demagogued by the media and their flying monkeys the Democrats.

The discussion then became one of the fact that until the media is fully discredited and the current crop destroyed in power to influence , no sane policy domestically can get through the gauntlet of chicken livered GOP politicians.

She began to see the link between fighting a personal, down and dirty media personality destruction war with the ability to pass sound policy. The media IS the main obstacle to conservative goals.

Tweet on President Trump, Tweet on. Make them go crazy and look crazy. Make them spend most of their time on silly nonsense while real things occur.

Think of Trump running the worlds best distraction game so the GOP can make small progress with their tiny amount of courage.

    Tweet on, Sir.

  7. DevereauxDevereaux says:

For quite a while I have thought as you do. For me the illustrative moment was when I noted that the tweet wars were raging while substantive things were being done – and not reported. In many ways this is just as well. Occasionally things happen (59 Tomahawks) that just can’t be ignored (at least completely) but mostly the cabinet seems to have had the opportunity to do its work without bother.

So in a way Trump tweets are a screening operation, for those of you militarily minded.

  8. 10 Cents10 Cents says:

What I think a lot of these people don’t understand is that when you tear down institutions it is not as if your institution is ever safe. The media has relished in destruction and now they want to think they just made an honest mistake. Sure, only you make honest mistakes but others don’t have networks covering for them.

The problem I see with Morning Joe is they think their opinions matter. People forget that they are basically spokes-models who read TelePrompTers.

I tell to remember that sure it is fun to laugh at others but could you ever do better yourself. If these people are so smart why aren’t they president. Why aren’t they changing things for the better instead of complaining about which “plays should have been run”?

  9. 10 Cents10 Cents says:

What I have noticed about Trump is that he picks his fights. He doesn’t go after someone strong. He knows their weaknesses and plays on them.

I still think that they got nothing left to throw at the guy. Where Trump has a lot left to throw at them? It is not fair.

How long before Mika and Joe take time off to spend time with their families? The whole point of the show was that it was a Conservative with a Liberal. That is now gone.

    • DevereauxDevereaux says:

I’m not sure it ever was there.

    • AvatarEThompson says:

“What I have noticed about Trump is that he picks his fights. He doesn’t go after someone strong.”

That is certainly not true! He has gone after the MSM, the entire legislative branch, and the GOP.

And he seems to be “winning” because many Americans like to do that and by nature, aren’t afraid of the backlash.

In my entire life, I have never experienced a president who is more in tune with my attitude toward every issue and the rest of the weak and pathetic international world.

He’ll kick everyone’s a** sooner rather than later and I’ll be right there to support him.

  10. 10 Cents10 Cents says:

I remember everyone thought Ronald Reagan was a dunce that would never win. Jimmy Carter was happy to run against him until he wasn’t.

One is interesting to watch is the denial that takes place. The losers can’t own up to their mistakes. They never get that they did something wrong. They whine, denigrate, and smugly drink their cocoa in their comfy cocoons.

  11. 10 Cents10 Cents says:

The best thing about Trump is his enemies losing it. People in other countries have to face real difficulties. In the USA a tweet is enough to put the cable industry into “This is the most important because it is about ME ME ME” mode. Like they were really there to counter balance Keith “Worst person in the world” Olbermann. Is not the Worst person in the world a de facto enemy of the people?

  12. DevereauxDevereaux says:

Don ‘t get too wrapped up in this, double nickel. They aren’t that deep thinking, and certainly not worth that much analysis.
