Perspective

The article below takes a somewhat different cut at where the great struggle for ideas is right now.

Like many, I have sensed a shift in the way people perceive things, a great change in perspective that usually is the harbinger of social change.

We had civil rights, slavery, isolationism and a number of constructs that required a new way of thinking to emerge.

I do believe we are seeing a change in thinking and the reason the left is going crazy is they are beginning to realize the world will not return to the old status quo. They have lost the concept high ground and only win with raw naked power.

I predict increasing turbulence.

Once granted power no group likes to surrender it… except conservatives. We’re as likely as not to say something like, “Well, the people have spoken and they want authoritarian communism so we won’t stand in the way of the will of the majority…”

The other side can and will fight like hell to the death.

Except, EJ, our politicians have given up the ghost and become the enemy, only in a more restrained format.

I’m having problems with this in my personal life; have lost several friends over breaking bread at a dinner table. Yeah, I know … it is what is, but I don’t have to like it and remain frustrated that it is impossible to engage in any argument with low-info people. My family members and close friends who understand me, consistently scold me for discussing politics with idiots but dammit, it’s what I enjoy and why should I have to dumb down the conversation?

You know what my least favorite cliché is in this world? “Never discuss religion or politics.”

Well why not? What is more important?
