I am wondering how people are doing. I am writing this post because the situation is fluid. (bad pun) How people were doing after the initial storm is not the same as they are doing now.
I got a hold of someone who could tell me that Boymoose missed the flood hitting his house by an inch. The garage was not so lucky.
Does anyone know about SeaWriter’s place? Aaron Miller if I remember correctly lives in the area so him too?
SeaWriter put up a piece on Ricochet and said that he and his wife moved to his brother’s place for a week and evidently when they got back they had to throw out the contents of their freezer and their refrigerator and that was the extent of their damage.
Thanks, Larry.
Aaron has a good piece that has been promoted to the main page. So far, seems everybody is ok.
Did not read Aaron’s post yet, but read Seawater’s … Houston a city of motes. :)
It seems the story is the same as many weather events … mostly it was the folks who allowed themselves to get panicked by all the shouting on TV and made some bad decisions who suffered the most. Seawater said yes, 80,000 homes flooded but there are 2.2 million homes, so, not as bad as they make it sound.
“Houston a city of motes.”
I finally get this now. I thought this was some type of bug but it is “moats”, right?
yes. How did i not catch that… good for a giggle.
I was able to talk to BoyMoose. He was in good spirits. He had to wade through chest high water to leave his house in the middle of things. And friends came with a kayak to help save their pets. One car looks like it won’t make it though since the garage was flooded.
