Americans Have Dreams — DACA is not one of them

DACA was an executive order of Obama’s that allowed illegals of any age to stay in the US if they came over when they were young.  Most of those people are going to be adults big enough to take their lumps.  The average DACA bum would be something like forty years old.

President Obama did not have the power to write law, and immigration law is not the same as enforcement.  This was one more of the many ways in which his “I have a phone and a pen” threat to issue laws from the desk was implemented, right between the eyes … Continue reading

Clara Binski

That crazy cat woman is at it again.  I had reason to think, from a comment here, that she had departed the cafeteria, or at least stopped chasing out paying customers with her panhandling from behind the counter and general miasma of cat piss, but no.  Right bang up on the menu is another entry describing how very very wrong she was, and in plenty of condescending, self-righteous, progressive RINO-splaining agony.  Here’s a dirty word– let me explain it to you — in French.

That’s not a cafeteria.  That’s a cat box.  What’s French for cat box?

A Coal in the Embers

You can accept a person without accepting their ideology. You need not believe what they believe, not approve of it, not even in them, nor grant “tolerance” of a thing you abhor — in order to recognize a fellow and friend in a person you know.
Not all friends are of the same order. Not all beliefs must be accorded the same respect.
I have friends who adhere to a larger ideology which I find despicable, monstrous, satanic. Yet these men are proven heroes, worthy of respect and no small degree of admiration.
When my friend does not slay the infidel, nor kill the Jew, neither push to expand the realm of Jihad and Sharia nor draw a bloody line between that dar al Islam … Continue reading

Check Your Membership Privilege

Just a quick note talking about membership.  There are no issues (that I’m aware of), and I am glad to see some new faces, and some old.  There are a good number of accounts here which don’t see much activity.  People kind of come and go as they please.  A recurring topic is the site’s relationship with Ricochet, or at least the members’ relationship, and there is no issue there either.  I do try to maintain a “good neighbor” stance toward Ricochet, and heaven knows that good fences make good neighbors.  I would not like to see this site become what Charles Johnson used to call a “stalker site”, existing only to throw stones at a former membership locus.  On the other hand, one thing that many here … Continue reading

Gorka Out — This Is Bad

From our friends over at The Federalist, an account of the petty establishment termites eating our administration.  Trump is getting some very good things done, but the body count in the Executive is going the wrong way.  When Gorka is out and McMaster is still in, this is bad indeed.

UPDATE: In response to this story, the White House issued a statement that said, “Sebastian Gorka did not resign, but I can confirm he no longer works at the White House.”

I’d like to know which petty infighting needle-dick said that.

Your Ideal Phone Call Window — Survey

When is a good time for you?

We have a little phone call we do here, the Town Hall Meeting of the Village of the Darned.  The current time of 2100 (9 PM) Eastern Time each Wednesday works for some people and not for others.  I am concerned that there may be a great number who find this time difficult.  So please let me know when would be a good time for you!  And if your best time is 2100 EST on Wed, that’s fine.  Let me know.

USS FITZGERALD Investigations Continue

Here’s an update from Reuters, linked by the inexplicably popular gCaptain.

About a dozen U.S. sailors are expected to face punishment for a collision in June between the USS Fitzgerald and a Philippines cargo ship, including the warship’s commanding officer and other senior leaders of the ship, the Navy said on Thursday.

The headline is in factual error, but the story sounds well-researched. Only one officer will be relieved of command, of course. More than officers will be disciplined — at least one enlisted man will be shuttered in some way.
Alongside the tales of heroism and sacrifice, there remain of course the more tiresome details of administration and fault-finding.

“What difference at this point does it make?” Of course, the difference made is in the … Continue reading
