Some of you have heard Brent & I speak well of Mark David Ledbetter’s history series, America’s Forgotten History. MDL tries to show that America’s originating spirit was very much libertarian, and that despite corruption, the nation mostly stuck with this – until about the end of the 19th century, with the rise of “progressivism”. MDL’s latest offerings are an introduction to his 4th volume in the history series, and a stand-alone look at the two defining revolutions of the Western World – the. American and the French. He goes into how these two were different, especially the French, and how events supported one or the other. The name of the stand-alone is Dancing on The Edge of the Widening Gyre. I think you will like it.

A wonderful interpreter of our nation’s story: accessible and enjoyable. Thanks for the heads-up about something new.
OK: I just took a gander at Amazon. The Kindle editions are only a buck fifty. I’ve bought Vol. 1.
Now I’m going to want to hear opinions. I myself am a big fan. So was Brent. But both of us tend strongly toward the libertarian, or classical liberal thinking. Many of you are more blatantly conservative.
Hopefully you will find the book interesting enough to get you to buy the rest. I don’t necessarily agree with everything he says, but mostly I do. And I love using some of his examples to befuddle my liberal “friends”.
I have a bunch of other stuff to read first, though.
Humph. Everyone has a bunch of other stuff to read. If you’re not reading at least 3 books at a time, you’re not trying.
I usually do but library books have deadlines (especially new, popular ones).
Gotta say, I rarely read “new popular stuff”.
