Venting a bit; here goes: The problem there is “modest”. Nothing is modest about this guy. :-D He won’t beat Hillary anyway; so this is a true hypothetical. We are a modern, administrative state, for good or ill. The Founding vision has morphed; where do we go from here – as things are?

I am officially unaffiliated as of yesterday. No more Repulsivecants, no more Cantservatism. People who insist on their ideological bona fides, while disparaging colleagues past and present, make me want to retch…People whose surrogates speak of their being “anointed by God” for the office of POTUS [TC’s father, for instance] frighten me as much as Trump.

FauxNews is just that. Pundits are paid hacks, by and large. Talk radio is about *ratings*, and has a history of doing too little, way too late to advance the cause they say they support. I won’t be voting in this election unless a “third way” emerges…I can, in conscience, do no other.

Appreciate the chance to put this somewhere!

Tell us how you really feel, Nanda.

I think this is how the dems will view the office of president should Trump win. With Hillary it will still be the leader of the free world (with pen, phone and her own personal router/server).

He won’t be modest. Modesty will be forced upon him by the genius of the Founders, whose will has lately been thwarted by a GOP in thrall to progressive termite-herders.

The Founders’ structure is a zombie; Trump will shoot it on 5th Ave. while people cheer. Billary will revert to selling access to keep from being ‘dead broke’ if they ever leave again.

I”m not talking about Trump himself. I ‘m talking about the leftie response.
The office of president won’t be all glorified but back to where is should be: the head of one of 3 co-equal branches of government. where it belongs. A good thing, no?
But then this will probably lead to vicious mid-term elections to get/keep control of the other two houses. . .. sigh

If media attention is one of the measures, I fear you may be wrong. I would expect the media ratings driver would continue right into a Trump presidency.

The part that would amuse me would be the Democratic congress folks vying for a chance to be on the reality show that would be the Trump administration. I expect them to figure out the new paradigm faster than the GOP counterparts.

  5. NandaNanda says:

Trump himself, and the impotence of the Conservative and Republican “establishments” (It really is 1968!) to recognize and neutralize the threat, is the problem…Plenty of people we could’ve put forward, but we’re never going to get Silent Cal, or the small government he presided over – unless we start again, from scratch. I guess the “right of the people to alter, or abolish, it” is at play now.

    I could live with that.
