Yeah, click the link, it’s pretty bad and won’t be posted here.  This is one of the reasons I support Sarah Palin for… whatever.  The vicious attacks on her family go unrepudiated, unchallenged, unreported by a media which has it in for her. Three Speeches

A short look at three of the President’s speeches from early this year, in which he telegraphed what he is doing today. Can’t say he didn’t warn us, Comrades.

This is a shake map from the most recent quake felt around here, provided ( hope they don’t mind) by the awesome Tenki.jp. There’s a big X at the epicenter (this one was 50km deep, which is good), and the rest of the circles indicate how strongly the ground shook at particular points. This was a Mag 5.0, and the scale used (all the 4s and 3s in tinted circles) is the Japanese Shindo scale, a purely subjective assessment of how it felt at a particular point. By the way, I live just about where the southernmost teal “3” circle is.

After an epic struggle this weekend, I now have a database which is somewhat out of date, but WORKS! The structure and the data are CONSISTENT, so the fact that it is now a week or so out of date is not much of a challenge. Now that the thing works, I can simply make updates, rather than have to hack and kludge my way around it.

Maybe now my rapid app development software will stop giving me such trouble. Hard to complain about the front end when you know the back end ain’t exactly holding water.

I’m getting shaken from the west now, which is unsettling indeed.

Believe it or not, kids, this is an Obama quote.

“…any deal that leaves him in power would lead to further chaos and lawlessness. We know from bitter experience what that would mean. Neither Europe, the region, or the world can afford a new safe haven for extremists.” [And therefore AMerican military power is being used to force a dictator from power–hbd]

Yup. He wrote that in an Op-Ed in the New York Times. I have issues with an American President being so inept that he must use a frigging editorial page to get his point out, but for now we’ll let that slide. Priorities, kids, priorities.
