I am in the red circle now. It is raining. Should I go outside and collapse an umbrella?
Yellow means Caution and Red means warning. My part of the country turned red a while back from yellow. It is 12:30 and the storm gets stronger from 6 pm on.
UPDATE: The storm has moved so it will pass right over my Sock Drawer. (I am a little north of the 日 in “17日18時” on the Main Island.)
In Japan they number the typhoons from the beginning of the year so this is Number 18 for 2017. It will arrive tomorrow.
eek, stay safe. Are typhoons the same strength as hurricanes – I mean, might it be like a tropical storm or does it pack destructive strength?
Hurricanes?!!! Don’t make me laugh. We call those mists here. [They are the same but typhoons operate in better locations.]
ok = stay dry, sock, and if you can’t stay dry Sta-Puf.
But if you put socks in a dryer, some of them lose their partners. Beware of dryers, Dime.
Is that a bug or a feature, DocLor?
I leave that question to others. I’m like Switzerland on this one. Neutral, that is. Not with a big-plus flag.
And like their cheese?
Rinse cycle!

I don’t like how you guys are spinning this.
The problem is you don’t have sexy names for them. Nobody remembers Typhoon 18. Irma on the other hand..
Is this storm coming or is it just breathing hard?….
It’s called Talim, apparently.
Well that’s a little better.
Here is the list and the meanings. We are in Column V.
http://www.jma.go.jp/jma/jma-eng/jma-center/rsmc-hp-pub-eg/tyname.html
In Japan, it is better to use numbers than a person’s name. They are more superstitious and connecting destruction to a name is bad.
Talim: sharp or cutting edge. Makes it sound sort of technological.
You are right, Brent. 18 is no 10 when it comes to be sexy and charming.
As long as it doesn’t go to 11
Be safe Dime. Praying for you.
Thanks, JJ.
You being a little north of 1, I am a mere 4,000 miles by great circle route away. Or so says Google Maps (if you can believe a leftist org like Google).
Oops! Misread the map. 6,687 mi. I hope I am safe from the typhoon.
You were only off by 2,687 miles, Dev. And you are worried about a typhoon. ;-)
What Happened or Hard Choices, Dev? You get to choice the color of your Blue
PillHill.?Worried. I believe I quit worrying something like 10 years ago.

This is from a nearby city.
Where is the boss relative to this storm? We’ve not heard from the eminent poobah in a few days.
He is in Tokyo. The storm will not affect him.
I am dry. I am alive. I have a new leash on life.
Glad to hear it.
Did you lose power? In my neighborhood we lose power sometimes on a perfectly sunny day with not even a breeze – usually PECO blames it literally on squirrels.
I did not lose power. (When do I get all the Care Packages?)
I could send you some squirrels.
How many can you spare?
5*
How far are you from the coast?
What elevation are you at?
Did you remember to douse yourself with fabric softener?
I thought you told me lighter fluid, Percy, works if I don’t have fabric softener. What was the next step?
I suggest you don’t light a match per Airplane.
Wasn’t that the scene where the guy was sitting next to a Naval Aviator and was bored out of his mind?
He was probably intimidated.
Yup but let me tell your more about myself.
Zero Hour for you, Richard.

Well, I guess you’re still there, then.
Yes, I am here and I didn’t even go through a rinse cycle.
So you get lost in the dryer.
Glad the Sta-Puf worked for you, Titheness! Now, you can: Lather. Rinse. Spin. Repeat. just for fun. :-D
Glad to hear you came through OK.
Thank you. It was not so bad. I wrote this post to give people a flavor of the way Japan handles typhoons.
