The MSM accomplished what it set out to do; to destroy Sarah Palin. In doing so, they have destroyed themselves.
[pullquote]It is this media which brought us Obama and ObamaCare, and any fight against it is a good fight[/pullquote]
The approaching season of politics is an opportunity for Palin to pursue her goal, and I think I know what it is. She will use the occasion of a Presidential campaign to wreak vengeance upon the media: her campaign or somebody else’s. Assuming I am correct (humor me), that may sound inappropriate or cynically manipulative, but this is the fight of fights which the right should be engaged in. While the debt has become the most visible threat to our future, and the totalitarians currently in office are the immediate threat to our liberty, it is the corrupt media which is the threat to our government. It is this media which brought us Obama and ObamaCare, and any fight against it is a good fight.
What
We do not have the luxury of isolating battles and massing on targets. We are at a significant disadvantage because our socialist media is now openly supporting the Marxist democrats. We are embattled, surrounded, and must fight for all we are worth, because we are uniquely poised to lose it all otherwise. Not since duck and cover has our nation been so threatened with eradication by Communists and the media is the key to beating them. We must win across the board, and that is why Palin’s war on the media should be a baked-in component of our general campaign. A candidate who is not willing to take this battle on as well as his chosen struggle will suffer the same fate as the last one who would not: John S. McCain.
President Obama is now potentially damaged goods because his Marxist slip is showing. While the media may try to provide cover, and the professors don’t really mind, the American people do not like Communism. The only problem is that they’re still not quite convinced that’s what we’re seeing. But it does show, and time will not work in favor of the Obama crew. They must destroy as much as possible, as quickly as possible, without sealing a defeat in 2012. As in previous crises faced by democrats, the media must either admit the problem and start the wheels of investigative journalism, or double down their cheerleading for the left by manufacturing outrage at the right.
[pullquote]middle-of-the-road is not an option we have. The media keeps trying to sell it to us because they know how to defeat it[/pullquote]
For example, we can supposedly guarantee victory in the next election by selecting a candidate who is not very conservative. Even with a victory, this would not save us, however, from the impending ruin already dialed in by the Marxists in control right now. All that will do is win one fight while losing others. And in fact, the media know what to do in this case: stop assaulting his conservatism, and split the vote on the right by enhancing his perceived liberalism. This is crucial: middle-of-the-road is not an option we have. The media keeps trying to sell it to us because they know how to defeat it. They are trying to drive the Republican party to the right while shrinking it, presumably because it is “too far to the right”.
The obvious defense against this is to remind Americans that it is the left which has sailed off the cliffs of sanity, like Thelma and Louise in a 1966 Hindenbird. In order to do this, RINO leg-crossers must not carry the day. They are incapable of rehabilitating the right in the eyes of the swing voter because they are not interested in taking a stand for it. They would rather give up key points in a mistaken bid to curry favor with those who will not come across for a weak republican any more than for a strong one. As Ronald Reagan said, “When we’re like us, we win, but when we’re like them, we lose.” Who can serve as an example of the plain old American values (freedom, limited government, family, marriage, life and so forth) represented by the right?
Oddly enough, it may seem both a bit late and a bit early, and at any rate arbitrary, to declare Sarah Palin the implacable agent of the MSM’s necessary decline.
Whom
The thing is, she comes back stronger, while they cannot recover. She doesn’t have to win an election, and she may be better off not to try. All she has to do is prove that she is the anti-media; that by colluding to take her on head-to-head, the MSM made her into a figure more powerful than any media outlet, perhaps more powerful than all of them. The MSM will shepherd their wounded candidate through 2012, and she will be able to pick one on her side. If she runs, she runs as a Republican. If she does not run, the nominee must run as a Palinite.
I will expand on this in my next Palin post.
