Chris Matthews Not Wrong

Chris Matthews has been one of the more disgusting nakedly partisan Clinton apparatchiks in the mainstream media.  So do not be too surprised that he is not telling it like it is.  He sacrificed more totally and more freely than almost anybody else.  He was not a Clinton appointee like Brazile, or Stephanopoulous.  He came from the journalist side of things, and now has nowhere to go.  He has burned his own house down to keep warm, rather than his neighbor’s.  So enjoy this:

NeverTrump Godfather

Forgive me if I reject the Kumbayah spirit of the NeverTrump crowd.  Of course they want it easy — they did nothing while the Trump people won the battle, and now they want back in the tent.  It is not as though the war is over.  This is just a battle, and if we allow this sort of conduct, we will lose the war.  You do not sit back and enjoy winning a battle — you capitalize on victories and turn them into tangible advantages.  This is still very much a fight between the Belmont elites who despise us in Fishtown, and we who actually do the fighting.

Rush says Reince Priebus was onboard the whole time.  That’s nice.  Even if I take Rush at face value (he … Continue reading

NeverTrump Morons Fade

Amazing.  It’s not so much that these people are delusional — they are — but that their delusions result from such comical short-sightedness.  There are always sound reasons to oppose any candidate, but that is not what these people are about.  These are Washington DC cocktail party creatures.  About three-hundred self-described “NeverTrumpers” assembled at some swank bar, as the Daily Caller relates:

“It’s an opportunity for Republicans to come together to talk about the future of their party,” Weinstein [organizer of a NeverTrump gathering] continued. He described how the Republican Party has been damaged, even “poisoned” by the emergence of Trump. “Five years from now, if Donald Trump wins, the Republican party will be dead.”

I should probably make a tag for this: Trump-Symptom-Not-Cause.  The Republican Civil … Continue reading

As The World Burns

Or turns.  Your mileage may vary.  I voted for Trump some days ago.  I’m not particularly keen on following the results of this election.  Last time around, a friend and I took leave and went to an American hotel in Tokyo to drink beer, speak English, and watch the elections returns.  Now, well, meh.  I could very well sleep in on Wednesday, which would have me waking up well after the usual “calls” are made. I expect some wrasslin’ this time around, but I don’t know.  I’ll sleep soundly knowing that the quality of my sleep has nothing to do with the result.

Changes

I made two klooges to fix the Forum Reply text area. The next major update of the theme (a package of settings I get from people who actually know what they’re doing) will wipe out the change. Which is right and good. In the meantime, this stable but temporary fix will make things in the forums easier to use.

Glick on Rails

Caroline Glick nails an important facet of the current political fight in the US.  She sees the Establishment, and calls it what it is.  This is a magnificent column.  Read the whole thing:

What he represents is the voters’ rebellion against the American establishment – not just the political establishment, but the full spectrum of the American elite. From Washington to Wall Street, from college campuses to the media, tens of millions of Americans believe that their establishment is rotten to the core. And they support Trump because he is running against the establishment.

Introduce Yourself!

If you are new, or would otherwise like to, feel free to write a post (like this one) announcing your arrival, and as much or as little information as you would like to share.

I will put mine up within 24 hours, if you’d like an example.  And all of these will be tagged “Introductions”. I’ll set up a separate page to display these.

Note: these will be public unless you explicitly make them private.  More on that later.  For now, treat them as public.

More soon!
