Have you tried it with some wasabi?

  2. NandaNanda says:

Boy, do they do some weird versions of it: sun-dried tomato, for Pete’s sake! Give me that old-time chickpeas, garlic and lemon.

Hello Brent! Good to see you, so to speak. This place is not as active as R> but I submit it may be more thoughtful.

Anyway, I hope to hear more from you. Titus has been doing the main lifting here, but there have been some spirited exchanges.

    Hello, Mr. Brent!
Now, to the business at hand: Humus is great, but so are chickpeas.

So are dried tomatoes–at least with pecorino (or any other number of solid, salty Italian cheeses), prosciutto (or other cured meats), black truffle sauce, on a foccaccia (or any sandwich bread). If you cook peppers a bit, just to heat & soften them, say with some garlic–even better. Best sandwich I’ve had this year…

Whoever wants a vulgar comedy featuring humus every which way but loose–Zohan is your ticket. (Only for people who do not hate Mr. Adam Sandler.) (The film doubles up as a Capra movie for the new century–it’s half You can’t take it with you, half Mr. Deeds goes to town, & with some Meet John Doe thrown in for hero-sidekick charcterization.) As for the comic conceit about Jewish super-soldiers going to America to become barbers–it’s happened before & it’s happened again. America is a really strange country!

      Embrace the strangeness!

We call ’em garbanzo beans. (sometimes; somewheres)

Howdy, TT! Watched Amazon Studios’ joint-venture Austen flick: “Love & Friendship” last night…Fun to see Kate Beckinsale as Miss Jane’s version of a “mean girl”! (Okay, TT, have at it…)

      • MLHMLH says:

        ‘Twas a fun flick, no?
Just wrapped up Death Comes to Pemberly last night. All out of my faves on Netflix. Might have to turn to reading (or there’s that little shelf from the boat that needs sanding and varnishing. . .)!

  5. NandaNanda says:

Weird is okay, M – except gastronomically. I’ve paid heavily for the tomato-enhanced version…Thanks for the vote of confidence, Brent!

    • MLHMLH says:

Yes, Nanda, some things are best when unadulterated. I only want BDB to try it with wasabi and tell us how it is. I bet mixing it with some avocado would be yummy.

  6. DevereauxDevereaux says:

Bah! Mess up the avocado. ?Why you want to mess up a good guacamole.

  7. NandaNanda says:

Copy that, M…Sounds like it could be a kicked-up bite of yumminess with the wasabi…

Love & Friendship was directed by my favorite comic director in America, Mr. Whit Stillman. I heartily recommend all his movies. He’s always done Jane Austen in America, but now he’s doing Jane Austen. He did a novelization of the film, too, from a ridiculously villainous perspective, it’s supposed to be really funny.

I’m too tied up with my last days in Romania to expatiate upon such a worthy subject, but happily, I’ve expatiated before! Here are my pomocon essays, as well as, in the links in my articles, my friend Mr. Carl Eric Scott’s. Pomocons are foursquare behind Jane Austen & Mr. Whit Stillman!
