ITIL Savings On The Fly

Savings due to the uptake of ITIL best practices need not be confined to experienced practitioners or experts with established metrics.  After, money saved is not itself concerned with how you measure it.

As an asset manager, I am building on the successes of others before me and trying to avoid some of the pitfalls they found.  Lifecycle Management is a practice or discipline in which we seek proficiency.  Obviously, the advantage is that well-managed assets produce value more efficiently than poorly-managed assets.

So we have a number of issues facing us when we look at monitors for PCs.  In my inventory, I have a profusion of (no kidding) fifty different models of monitor, reaching back about fifteen years.  I used my mad SQL skillz to group a … Continue reading

A Prediction

I do not think that President Obama’s marriage and “career” will both survive the next year.   That is, I predict defeat (either by Dems or Reps!) or divorce, and very possibly both.

He is set up for a mental collapse (if it has not already happened), and the collapse of a bunch of other things.  He is loathed by much of the country, distrusted by Democrats, and seeks to enlarge his base through a series of potentially treasonous maneuvers including vote fraud of various sorts.  He is about to lose his AG who has been the key to burying the crimes of the President and his permanent campaign staff.

Signs to watch for are increasing isolation of the President by his staff, and more of the “separate … Continue reading

Ruses

There’s enough room here to suspect that the Black Panther thing is a ruse, designed to get conservatives out of our chairs only to be called stupid for rising at intentional provocation.  This sort of thing does give the Obama administration breathing space to commit genuinely offensive and illegal acts. It pushes the boundaries of criticism ever further into lawless territory, so that we accept what is plainly wrong even while we wonder why we do nothing about it.  These are powerful psychological techniques which are normally resisted by a society’s powerful bullshit filter, which is evolved and honed over decades and centuries.  This is the value of culture, and what defines a people.  This is also why the Progressive left seeks to subvert every moral or traditional … Continue reading

Uncomfortably Numb (part 2)

I find it difficult to write these days. I’ve little time, I’ve said it all before, and it probably doesn’t help. It’s difficult to promote one’s own writing based on “See? I wrote this a year ago, and sure enough it happened!” Heaven knows I’m wrong as well, on a number of things–well, conversation helps reveal points of interest, even if the conclusion is a whiff.

This very lack of motivation to write (internal and external) is something I spoke of earlier, in a post entitled “Uncomfortably Numb“.

It’s not getting better.

Tom's Energy Platform

Energy Independence and Security
Dependence on foreign fossil fuels threatens both our national security and our economy.  Americans pay roughly $700 billion a year to OPEC.  That funds terrorism and rewards dictatorship.  It didn’t have to be this way, and it must not stay this way.

American Energy would would create jobs, wipe out the deficit, and pay off the current debt in one generation.  It would  produce a positive trade balance and reduce inflation to background noise.  It would reduce prices and costs on everything from paper clips to property.  Finally, it would not only create but advertise that the United States is no longer dependent upon dictators.

Growing Our Energy Supply
We must aggressively increase our nation’s energy supply, in an environmentally responsible way, … Continue reading

Top Ten #Julia Japes

In no particular order yet:

‎I have just been reminded that “Julia” is the name of Winston’s girlfriend, in Orwell’s “Nineteen Eighty-Four”…   Turning the weird up to 11…

Next up will be a correction. “Forget ‘Julia’. Let’s just call her something neutral, like Liberty 5-3000.”
