I don’t much go for this whole topic, Obama’s birth certificate and so on. It’s a loser not because the documentation is strong, but because the GOP is weak. So I’ll limit myself to a few observations connected to the evidence offered.
First is this gem, which is the proof offered by the White House:
birth-certificate (Sorry, no .pdf plugin apparently, so I’ll host it here and link local. Gnomes are working on it as we speak).
This document, hosted at WhiteHouse.gov, is a scan of a printout which says it was accessed at Snopes.com on 25APR2011. Why is this the White House’s chosen source of documentation? Didn’t Snopes get it from somewhere? Why is that “somewhere” not made available?
Second, look at the date on the certificate that Trump forced the administration to reveal. It’s April of 2011. Fine, it’s a certified copy, I get it, but then with what document was he certified eligible?
There was a lot of excitement a while back about the wording of the documents used to “certify” his eligibility. At some point, each of the fifty states had at least one person swear that they were satisfied that they had seen documentary evidence that he was, among other things, a natural-born citizen. No matter what you take that phrase to mean, you can’t get there without a birth certificate. So if the green one is from 2011, what document was used for the 2008 election?
Did the states certify based on a Snopes.com scan? If not, then where is the document that was used?
I find it difficult to avoid both of the following explanations: A), he was not eligible, or B), he is doing this on purpose. Either way, he is unfit.
Please note that I have confined my analysis (ahem) to two documents offered by the White House, and questioned the veracity of neither. The docs can both be exactly what they purport to be and still not solve the issue. That’s how weak a case the administration seems to have. No matter–the GOP is still cowering in the corner, wondering when the angry master will be nice again and bring us some scraps.
