Getting Old

Okay, in one sense, I’m not really getting old.  And in another, I feel I’ve always been old.  or always felt old, or something like that.  And perhaps old isn’t really the right word for it.  Somehow, a seemingly incongruous combination of being arch, crotchety, and phlegmatic all at once sums it up, but doesn’t really do it justice.  Oh and tired.  More than a little tired.  I recall toward the end of college complaining that I felt “tired, in a cosmic way — an unspeakable empty-fuel-tank kind of tiredness, whether I’m having a blast and active or sitting around with a slight buzz, it’s always there”.  Well, that was all a bit dramatic, which I’ll chalk up to youth, but I didn’t feel young.  It’s the darnedest … Continue reading

Entitlements: Plan C

Reprinted from August of 2011, when the Ryan Plan was news.  Has much changed?

You boomers are in trouble.  Your parents lived through the depression or were directly impacted by it, and they came up with a whole circus of social safety nets.  This system was never built to last even if it had not been abused, but it has been ransacked.  They used it as intended, and you have abused it, hollowing out the programs while expanding them, so that all that remains is a system of empty shells.  Now you want to retire on it, and there’s nothing left.  So you’ve borrowed the money from overseas, and told them that my generations will pay for it.

Well maybe we will, and maybe we won’t.

It’s not … Continue reading

The Impending Darkness

Hard not to be gloomy these days. Just when you think there’s a chance, a glimmer, it’s gone. Like everything else.
sadkurtz

It turns out that not only is the universe going to die a slow cooling death, but we’re not even in an interesting time. On the other hand, the 1980s under the very real Cold War threat and a resurgent Reagan’s America was the most optimistic time I have ever had in my life. The particles were symmetrical, and the Omega point was widely presumed to be a smidge better than one. The internet of cat pictures was just … Continue reading

Time Warp: GOP Equates Tea Party With Occupy

Originally published “elsewhere”, October 20, 2011:

God-Damned Idiots.

I cannot describe how angry I am at the clown-car Republican candidate debates, Chris Christie, Mitt Romney, the punditry, the establishment–yep, pretty much the whole lot of ’em.

I have always been hostile to a third-party gambit; I still am.  But the GOP seems hell-bent to have one.  Ever since the Tea Party behaved magnificently and returned the GOP to power in an historic crushing mid-term defeat of the Communists currently defiling our Capitol, the GOP has been absolutely set on destroying the morale of the organization which restored the spirit of the Republican Party.  Well, it’s not going to work.

If the RINOs insist on sabotaging the work of the Tea Party *to elect Republicans*, they will harm only … Continue reading

Upgrading the MacBook Pro

I have a marvelous late 2008 “Unibody” MacBook Pro 15 which has fallen into disuse.  Problem is, it was the hub of my Apple Universe.  It only had a 256GB hard drive, so I offloaded its iTunes library to a network drive, which I never quite got running the way I wanted.  The goal was to be able to use any sort of media procuring activity to drop files into a folder that would be monitored by iTunes on the MBP (MacBook Pro) for automatic addition to iTunes.  Any device that I wanted to use to “consume” media would use the iTunes server built into the network hard drive.  This is such a great idea that there should be a patent in it somewhere.  Or maybe it’s not … Continue reading

Furious

People ask me what I’m for.  You’re so negative they say, you’re always against something.  Happened again today on the teleconference.  What do you support?

I support winning.  I support beating the enemy like a drum, and that requires a moral clarity to see the enemy for what they are, and a hard heart to hear their weasel words and just hold down the trigger (so to speak).  Problem is, we have a bunch of the enemy on our own side.  These losers cannot be made to fight and do not want to win.  They are comfortable as things are, and the only thing that threatens them is unhappy democrats and furious conservatives.  So they make nice to the democrats and they make war on conservatives.  The GOP is … Continue reading

Rush on FIRE

Who here has Rush memberships? Or heard the show? I would like to talk about this. Especially if you know your Alinsky.

You should be able to read a transcript here: http://www.rushlimbaugh.com/daily/2015/06/26/the_left_s_moral_relativism_has_eaten_our_culture_alive_and_conservatives_have_no_political_strategy_to_stop_it

It’s the first 17 minutes of audio in particular.

Do you recall seeing Obama on magazine covers in 2003, 2004?  Even at the time I thought it was odd to see the same guy from out of nowhere on both Time and Newsweek side by side.  “Who is this nobody,” I wondered, “and why is he the Next Big Thing?”

Duh.  For all my banging on about Alinsky, and my appreciation of the race weapon, I missed it.  Or at least I hadn’t put all the pieces together at the same time.  The Obama Presidency is … Continue reading

Marrying My Dog, Inc.

I’m going to legally incorporate, which creates another entity, and name that company My Dog. Since the company is me and I am a man, that’s gay marriage. The company is My Dog so it’s bestiality. My own auto-consanguinity approaches 100%, so that’s incest. A company is only legally a person, but not actually, so that’s an object fetish. With all these entities in the mix, it’s polyamory.

You perverts are pikers. You’re not even trying.
