The history of the Thanksgiving Holiday is complicated, but the intent is not. Here is part of the story.
My favorite line?
…to protect and guide all sovereigns and nations (especially such as have shown kindness to us), and to bless them…
I just had a whopping Thanksgiving dinner at the swankmost US joint in Tokyo, the New Sanno Hotel. Wife and son and I took another little guy who has been my son’s friend since they were just peas in a pod at the day care. Also ran into some friends. This year, I have much to be thankful for. Kind of like every year.
Much to be grateful for, including friendship and safe harbor here. Glad you’re enjoying the day. Will raise a glass for you and LM at dinner here…
I am totally with you on this. Gratitude to the Lord for all that I have gotten from Him is in order every day, but especially on Thanksgiving.
Being still in the States, I had my two kids home, my two sisters over, and a neighbor couple and daughter – for 9 at the table. I LOVE big Thanksgiving dinners, and the food is the best dinner of tthe year. I could eat roast turkey and stuffing, whipped potatoes, cranberries and a sweet potatoe casserole that my daughter makes every other day forever I think. LOVE this dinner and LOVE having all the leaves in the dining room table and people all around. Couple bottles of Coppala’s Vendetta wine – and even some dessert hours later (cuz no one could eat earlier) – PERFECT!!!
