I’ll take this post down when the testing is complete. Meanwhile, new account creation may will be screwy.
Also, testing some interface items here. Good-looking pull-quotes are one of my favorite items. Therefore, I will try once again to get this working smoothly. By the way, my blog upgrades consist mostly of standardizing things. I am migrating as much of the appearance to the Mantra Theme, which now sports a much-improved settings editor. WordPress forced everybody to use their inferior product for a while, but Mantra struck back with a shim to make it all work again. And if it all comes crashing down, well then it won’t be piecemeal.
All security settings are being moved to my favorite security piece. It’s not fantastically capable, so still must remain the only full-powered admin. Dammit. But it is consistent and reliable, and that’s not nothing. FOrum security is still on its own, simple and robust. Forums are very simple *so long* as they are behind a competent security perimeter.
Shutting it down for the night. Blog up: operator OOC. New user creation is PROBABLY up. New users cannot access the forums, and this is by design. Forums are up. Will do away with “Membership begins here” path, but later. Most folks didn’t use it anyway, and instead were rescued by MLH’s superlative efforts.
Try using pullquotes. Write something, and select a likely bit of text, then from the “quicktags” dropdown, hit pullquote. YOU WON’T SEE IT, but it will take effect on the actual post.
Good Night!
Mebbe. . .
let me try again with something longer. Titus was
, see and experience Monument Valley.
Are you thinking of having replies go deeper? Although that would be nesting.
Never tried. Am on phone now, so no telling.
Sort of works. Am on tablet here
Have to “click ” twice to post the comment? Maybe a mobile platform thing?
MObile thing, yep.
Sure comments can nest. Wonder if I can change that from the phone…
Increased comments nesting level to 5. I will also try to find a more clear level indicator.
but don’t we dislike nesting?
level 2

ahh, but from the dashboard page. . . course could just be my organizational skills.
I have nothing against nesting so long as it doesn’t mutate the page.
and the rest don’t score!
Any idea how to give us each our own media cache (?)?
I think that that and a user dashboard are the keys to a really useful experience. Been looking at options — want better options. Still looking. I think we are on the same track.
I think it’ll cost more. . .
Pull quotes does not work in comments. This is good. Regular quotes the way we are accustomed to them should yes work in comments.
Pull quotes are the magazine style callouts as in the post here.
