The President is right to knock those who disparage our anthem or flag. The so-called sports protests are not protests about sports, but about America. The only role of sports in the protest is to give a bunch of un-educated ball hustlers a national microphone with which to attack the nation.
Trump has a duty to make the argument, to express his thorough disapproval of these actions, and to urge sanctions against those who make millions in a country they cannot abide. The people who run the NFL in particular, and a bunch of other outlets, had a magnificent chance to defend this country when under attack from within — they did not.
Don’t tell me how you support the troops, NFL. Your cutesy rah-rah spots on the Armed Forces Radio and Television Network are not fooling me. You suck.
Finally, despite reporting by the Hosington Waste, Trump did not “politicize sports”. Leftist agitators politicized sports, and a decent President won’t take it sitting down. Neither will I.
Yes. A thousand times yes.

I’ll second this. I’m glad he pulled the invite. UNC decided not to go, too. That didn’t surprise me. It’s UNC after all. Let’s see, who’s numbers have been going down in the last few weeks and who’s numbers are going up? Keep going down this road, Goodell. I don’t think it leads where you want to go.
It is a logical nightmare for the Dems. Disrespect the flag and president to be good citizens. Does the NFL have stock? I would love to short it and make money.

Look at the TV networks that carry the NFL. If their ad $’s dry up while paying an exorbitant fixed cost contract for content it is game over.
The NFL sucks.
When you have lost cheerleader loving Mike …
Mike, where have you been?
I’ve been trying to avoid being caught by mobs of crazed cheerleaders. ;-)
Why?
Captain of the lint trap asks a well reasoned question.
What a day!
Next thing you know a President will call football players SOB’s.
President Trump makes me happier every day that he fights back against the destructive tactics of the progressives.
What I don’t understand is why the owners have caved to the progressives. The owners are business people, they must be able to project where this all ends by continuing to allowed their business to be politicized and divisive. Why don’t they employ some clever public relations firm to come up with a cool/clever/contra campaign to at least neutralize the progressive.
Several reasons.
1. Their business – the game – relies on men literally risking their mental health and ultimately lives to provide entertainment.
2. Some statistics say the majority of their employees willing to do so are black. It is a tight line to stagger down trying to appease this contingent.
3. NFL owners are fabulously wealthy and uniformly white nothing assuages faux race/money guilt like lending support to progressive nonsense.
One more thing to add to your list, Brent.
The money in sports is NOT in the fans. It comes from the TV/cable contracts and the ads sold on that timeframe. So the fans have far less impact than MSM and advertisers.
The problem will be, of course, when the ratings start plummeting. I personally no longer watch sports aside from F1. I once liked watching football but no longer. I am hoping more fans will start emulating me and not watch. Hopefully the ratings will further tumble. The NFL got very concerned last year when there was a drop in numbers of people watching, albeit they said nothing. Mostly you heard, “Nothing to see – keep moving!” But they were concerned about the viewership in as much as the contracts specified deliverance of so many viewers per game.
Brent, hadn’t considered that angle before. But I confess, I don’t really think about football much, except when my husband starts shouting at the TV.
I gave up on watching professional sports (except for tennis) when I finally realized there was nothing sporting about the games anymore; it was all business, all the way. Not that I was ever much of a fan anyway.
However, my husband continues to watch, his family and mine, (except for me) are huge football fans. My husband says the competitive gene skipped me (not sure I agree).
Dev, I hope you are right about viewer numbers going down.
The great thing about Trump is they have nothing left in their arsenal to hit him with. Now they are attacking him for sticking up for the anthem. How patriotic of them!!!!
Companies who broadcast the NFL have lost stock value.

good.
Heard there was an 8% drop in viewship over the weekend for NFL games. Hope it goes further.
Way to have an unforced error by them, Dev.
