[dc]I[/dc] direct your attention to the excellent and overlooked article The Case Against Ron Paul by Gregory Hilton. He goes to some length puncturing the inflated claims and exposing the outright falsehoods made by the Ron Paul crowd.
Make no mistake, among other complaints, Ron paul is:
- a third-party spoiler
- an isolationist
- a protectionist
- an open borders advocate
- anti-Israel
Don’t take my word for it. Read the backing facts on Hilton’s blog.
Ron Paul subscribes to a number of conspiracy theories, and has a snake-handling literalist’s view of the Constitution. I’m a staunch originalist, but that does not mean I view the only valid means of defending our country to be the issuance of “letters of marque and reprisal”. To Ron Paul, that’s exactly what it means.
He’s a nut, but he’s stupid like a fox. Neither the Republicans nor the Tea Party can afford to fool around with this guy or his creepy cult-like anarchist following. If their assistance was what it took to win, I would rather lose and just shoot it out with tyranny. At least we stand a chance of winning that fight. If we accept Ron Paulism, we be destroyed.
Root out and expose the Ron Paul crazies in any Republican or Tea Party groups. When confronted, the cult-like Paulpods tend to throw off their cloaks of respectability and wade in with ad hominem attacks, or they begin pasting in large amounts of text or copious amounts of links. Shut them down.
Some people simply support Ron Paul, and will not get all wounded when you criticize his policies, such as defense (they’re agin’ it) and gold (they’re fer it). I have some friends who find much value in some of Dr. Paul’s policy prescriptions, and they are alright people who contribute to conversations. Those are rare exceptions, however, and I shall have to trust that they understand.
Cut ties with Ron Paul mutation of conservatism. It is not conservative, and it is not originalist. It is anarchy.
