The Thing About Manners

Don’t hold your breath waiting around for apologies from those who called you crazy, a bomb-tosser, a nut with a gun, a genocidal kooky-con bent solely on denying the obvious rights to the obvious victims — when one by one, our predictions come true, and the lawsuits about polygamy (polyamory), bestiality, incest, pedophilia, object fetishism, and the right to push all this on kids in public schools as right and good and the school’s business to discuss with them but not the parents, oh, and the loss of freedoms to even say what you think. No, none of that will happen, you murderous savage, you neanderthal, you Rush-bot echo-chamber-pots. It is not happening right before your eyes, you never predicted it because you did not provide a link, … Continue reading

The Thing About States

I haven’t done any homework on this, but wasn’t state funding (not the communist understanding of the word State, but the American, as in “the several states”) required to keep this thing in bounds for the method of passage chosen? All sorts of accounting tricks were used to keep it “budget neutral”, so that it didn’t require a supermajority somewhere at a critical juncture.

Blog Notes

Sorry for the absentee landlord routine.  Thank you everybody for working through the issues. I may have the privacy thing fixed.  I think I got MLR’s account sorted.  I don’t know what caused it, or why the password reset thing didn’t work, but so far I think I have a ridiculous work-around for power-cycling accounts.

I love the idea of the Constitution 101 course.  I am completely good for (say) Friday night audio.  That’s Saturday morning for me.  I’m feeling kind of deflated on some things these days, so maybe I’ll stick to technology for a bit.  Maybe not.  i tried to do that over at Ricochet and wound up moaning about the loss o the Republic etc.

Sigh.

Why Mommy and Daddy are Republicans, part 1

This is Chip.

Chip is a beaver, and like most beavers, he knows the value of hard work. Chip’s Mommy and Daddy are Republicans, and they worked very hard to build the place where Chip’s family lives. Chip of course, being a child, has no political affiliation. But he knows what makes sense. Before Chip was even born, his Mommy and Daddy went to the woods on the banks of the river, and felled trees by working very hard, for days on end, until the trees could be brought to the right place. ,

Redirection Loop Fixed…

Sorry for the trouble — got it nailed.  I finally rolled back all sorts of changes, disabled all plugins, and set permalinks back to the original WordPress 1.0 default style.  Given the nature of caching and cookies, I’m not sure which step along the way actually fixed the problem (dump cookies if you still see the problem and LET ME KNOW).

I’ll leave permalinks alone (it took down my old blog years ago, which really broke my back as a blogger), and work on bringing plugins back online one at a time.  SO if you see the problem again, it should be a VERY short-lived issue, and LET ME KNOW.

Sure Is Hot Over There!

Man, it’s hot over at Ricochet.  Feel free to cool off over here.  TO WHIT — if you’d like to have a discussion about that but not in the middle of all that, I offer the living  room here.

I’ve been a good netizen, not poaching, but I don’t think there’s any problem with picking up strays.  And aren’t we all in that category?

Welcome Post

Greetings!  Please let us know here if you have signed up.  Introduce yourself!   The comment spam gets thick, so this is how to let us know you’re a no-kidding person, not a robotic killing machine.

If you don’t introduce yourself here, your account is subject to being whacked if it looks like “user spam”.  Why?  The scripts that post spam comments have to create spam users to do it.  We get a lot of that.

This is where to prove you are for real.
