I wonder what the Democrats are saying about Donald Trump Hmm. Let’s ask Mona Charen. I Googled [Mona Charen Trump]. Here are the first ten seven results, with selected money quotes:
Football and Racial Fault Lines, by Mona Charen | Creators Syndicate [LINK]
“Who could blame people for noticing that when it came to Tiki-torch neo-Nazis in Charlottesville, Donald Trump strained to stress that some were very fine people, but black athletes who protest police brutality get this treatment?”
Not quite. He spoke of people “on both sides”, he condemned some on both, and he admitted the existence of better people on both sides. Meanwhile, Charen depicts an entire “side” in Charlottesville as Nazis, while white-washing (if you’ll pardon the expression!) the cultural Marxists generating mayhem in our country as “black athletes who protest police brutality”. You can’t have it both ways, unless you’re Mona Charen, the Republican who waddles like a duck and brays like a mule.
Donald Trump & Russia — ‘Witch Hunt’ Narrative Is Hard to Believe … [LINK]
[One of the] sixteen things you must believe if you trust that Donald Trump is truly the victim of a baseless witch hunt: That Donald Trump’s obsessive attacks on “fake news” are not an attempt to inoculate himself against future revelations but just good old-fashioned, right-wing hatred of liberals.
False Dichotomy, and a rich one at that. The imaginary proposition — the one advanced by Charen — is that Trump’s media criticism is not what it appears, but an elaborate, long-running deception operation. The more likely one — that it comes from his heart — is smeared in a way that not only denigrates Trump, but all of us yokels out here in flyover country. We don’t have values or positions — just hatred. The elided middle ground is that Trump has — as do we have — grounds for a position that the media is up to no good, and a willingness to say so. Notice how that is not one of the two possibilities allowed by Charen.

The next act is for conservative intellectuals and opinion leaders to defend Trump’s ploy as a serious policy, and to scream that the left has “lost it.”
No thanks. I’m demoralized.
Right. That’s why she has suddenly stopped defending Trump’s “ploys”, and why she will from this day forward refrain from screaming that the left has “lost it”. See how she’s done it again? The self-appointed “opinion leader” distances herself not from Trump, but from those who criticize the left. We don’t argue — we “scream”. And the idea that something has changed for her is at best disingenuous.
Mona Charen: Twitter Is Not Trump’s Problem | Stock News & Stock … [LINK]
Even Newt Gingrich, who has sunk to embracing squalid conspiracy theories (e.g., the Seth Rich smear) for the sake of toadying to Donald Trump…
Not only we in flyover country, then? “Even” Newt Gingrich — whose opinion she would otherwise hold? — also holds no position, has no beliefs, values nothing, but instead lowers himself to “toadying”. That’s what it is to speak against the democrat-media narrative. The fact is that there is one Hell of a conspiracy afoot. Multiple spiked investigations and years of media camouflage have not obliterated the facts that Obama and Hillary conspired to let those in Benghazi die so that Obama would be re-elected, and to peddle influence not only with the US Government, but in the election process itself, to foreign powers in exchange for heaps of poorly laundered campaign cash. E-mails were the key to unlocking this, which is why there is a law about government officials and employees hiding emails from oversight, and why those e-mails are the crux of the fight. It’s not about yoga. It’s about Benghazi and a government for sale to foreigners since Al Gore’s Chinese Money Laundry.
Too bad we don’t have somebody who could write “Sixteen things you must believe if you trust that Hillary and Obama’s treacherous obstruction of Justice was simply a series of mistakes”
Mona Charen: Trump’s Escape From The Comey Mess | Stock News … [LINK]
If this is sheer incompetence and petulance and nothing worse, the president could save himself and the country a lot more heartburn by releasing his tax returns. No one will care if he’s not as rich as he claimed. The burning question is whether he has a Russia connection.
Even at her magnanimous best, as she generously allows that his actions may be nothing worse than petulance and incompetence, she still does the Democrats’ bidding. Release your tax returns, Mr. Trump. It will get you out of your Comey trouble, Mr. Trump. Here’s a football for you to kick, Mr. Trump. And let’s get into this Russia thing, Mr. Trump!
Except that so far, the Russia thing is falling apart. No tax returns needed. Remember that this is Donald Trump who got Obama to kick out a birth certificate. It may even be genuine! I am nothing if not charitable. Trump knows what he is doing.

Another link to a list: Here’s the first one we haven’t seen yet:
Senator John McCain is not some principled crusader, least not in a conservative way. Not in the sense that good fences make good neighbors, that freedom of assembly and security in person and papers are worthwhile, and that our government exists to serve us, and not the other way around. John McCain was one of the marquee sponsors of the 2007 Amnesty push, and has never wavered from that commitment to disenfranchising American citizens. He also ran this time on repealing ObamaCare. He pledged to lead the fight. Instead, Trump led the fight, so McCain spiked it twice. McCain is not noble. He is petty, and consigns Americans to suffer under this oppressive, unwelcome, unworkable mess, and why? Because Trump opposes it, and Trump hurt McCain’s feelings.
“Beware an old man in a hurry.”
The Google results petered out after that; two more lists, and a link to Media Matters. And really, who needs enemies like Media Matters, when you have friends like Mona Charen?
I remember when I thought well of Mona Charen.
It was long ago, and I got over it.
Go away, woman. You have nothing to add to the public discourse that hasn’t been said and repeated endlessly by other leftists.
Mona is moaning about her shattered worldview, where she was safely ensconced as one of the elites who prospered while the 95% were ground down into a twelfth century existence.
TFB, Mona. Just too bad. Versailles is not a defensible position come the winter.
Mona, William Kristol, David Brooks… I loathe the whole lot of them. I don’t know who is worse: the House Negro Republicans like these people, or the consultants like Steve Schmidt and Rick Wilson that preen on MSNBC with Scarborough.
