    The word Private is inserted if you select VISIBILITY of private. The post is the visible to logged-in members, which is not a controlled group. It reduces but does not eliminate the public nature of posts.
    What’s more, a person who joins later can see private posts from earlier.

    Which explains why I’m the only one who has commented on the Private posts. . .

    Visibility – This determines how your post appears to the world. Public posts will be visible by all website visitors once published. Password Protected posts are published to all, but visitors must know the password to view the post content. Private posts are visible only to you (and to other editors or admins within your site)”

      I changed permissions. Now Contributors have the ability to publish and view private posts. Subscribers do not. You and I also have the ability to publish PAGES, private and public, and Contributors do not. I see permissions for the forums, but not sure if those are wired up to the plugin I’m using. So, more work to be done there.

    I can read all 7 responses to this “private” thread, however, how can anybody else read them if they are not logged in as a member?

      Ah, Kay, that is the point! Can you read:
      Private: the Point;
      Private: More Tech, Conference Call;
      Private: Some Help;
      Private: Mind the Gap (on page 2)?

    I no longer can see any “Title” with “Private” in front, I can read all the responses in this thread.
