The New Lone Ranger

If you are anywhere near my age, you cannot hear the 1812 Overture without visions of the masked rider on that great white horse, bringing justice across the wild west. Accompanied by his Indian friend and armed with silver bullets mined from a secret mine (I wonder just how he replenished his supply after a gunfight) he came to the aid of those unable to help themselves. We can argue whether this was actually vigilante action or justice, but for a young boy, it was a great show. How could a young boy resist the white hat, the guns that never ran out of ammo, that huge stallion!

The 9P Eastern/8P Central slot weekdays on FNN has been held by the hottie, Megyn Kelly. Armed with a great bod, bleached hair, and overall great looks, she quickly disarmed millions of viewers and became the queen of the cable airways at that time slot. She even had some good interviews. She made millions, wrote a book that is most likely vapid, and then left in a cloud of white smoke – like the magician. She expects to rebuild herself among the Ungodly. Best of luck to her on THAT endeavor.

And lo! See who walked into that slot! None other than young Tucker Carlson! Sort of like Trump, he has dained to take on some seriously sticky subjects. Not much of what he is doing is “safe ground”.

But I love that he comes prepared, is tenacious, and hounds the dolt professing some ignorant left-wing policy. So far I have watched him take apart black “civil rights” congressmen, liberal professors, and others who are claiming to be rallying the masses against Trump. He does it with a smile, but he usually has solid arguments or evidence of feckless behavior on the part of the “guest”. And best of all, he doesn’t seem to let them weasel out of the situation they get themselves into. One black congressman who was professing that Trump was illegitimate got royally skewered. He doesn’t take past performance as a reason to give a pass for current bad behavior.

I am waiting for him to show up with Tanto, a white hat, silver bullets and that great white stallion (which in modern day parlance COULD be a Z06 Corvette!)

I used to listen on my personal radio at night to the masked man and Tonto. The sponsor was Merita Bread and that was likely one of the first where you could collect memorabilia from the sponsor representative of the hero. I always have thought radio was better than tv. You are right about Tucker Carlson. I catch videos of him on the internet and can select those where it looks like fun.

When I was a kid, we would gather about a LARGE radio and listen to Johnny Dollar, Suspense, and Gunsmoke. And then there was the Shadow! Only rolled “r” in the English language.

Tucker reminds me of Howdy Doody, in a good way; Johnny Dollar is a favorite show of mine on the internet – love listening.

Tucker has sized up the crowd and determined to be the Johnny Carson of right wing punditry, pleasant, smart, but always polite and well mannered. He delivers mild gladiator matches without blood and then politely thanks his guest for coming.

A really solid formula for broad appeal.
