{"id":6117,"date":"2011-08-19T02:26:46","date_gmt":"2011-08-18T17:26:46","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/haakondahl.com\/blog\/?p=1719"},"modified":"2011-08-19T02:26:46","modified_gmt":"2011-08-18T17:26:46","slug":"if-the-tea-party-were-the-gop","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/balldiamondball.com\/blog\/if-the-tea-party-were-the-gop\/","title":{"rendered":"If the Tea Party were the GOP"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Michele Bachmann says she&#8217;ll bring back $2\/gal gas.\u00a0 I believe her.\u00a0 <a title=\"Bad math\" href=\"http:\/\/money.cnn.com\/2011\/08\/18\/news\/economy\/bachmann_gas_prices\/index.htm\">CNN snickeringly informs us<\/a> that she&#8217;s all wet, but it&#8217;s CNN that doesn&#8217;t understand how marginal effects and market confidence work.\u00a0 But enough of that.\u00a0 I&#8217;m here to pick a different fight.<\/p>\n<p>If Michele Bachmann were to be elected, and then try to wriggle off of the hook using GOP tactics as gas went through $5, it would sound like this:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Well, when I made that promise, gas was\u00a0$3.79, and a reduction to $2 gas would be a $1.79 savings.\u00a0\u00a0If it were not for the measures I have implemented, gas would already have risen past $8, so $5 gas is a $3 savings;
