Frankly, I would expect to see a lot of resigned commissions. Especially this guy’s:<\/p>\n

“Anticipating the elimination of the military ban on homosexuality, the Office of the Chief of Navy Chaplains has decided that same-sex couples in the Navy will be able to get married in Navy chapels, and that Navy chaplains will be allowed to perform the ceremonies — if homosexual marriage is legal in the state where the unions are to be performed.”<\/p>\n

I’m not religious, but I always supported having Chaplains because they were supposed to provide something for the troops which is as important as medical care *if you need it*. Chaplains are expected to uphold the tenets of their own faith (maintain accreditation, as it were) as well as live up to the articles of their oath of office. They have existed in a fiercely protected grey zone due to the unique services provided, in light of the unique needs of troops in combat and back from the line, throughout the force.<\/p>\n

If the Office of the Chief of Chaplains exists only to rubber-stamp anti-religious decisions of the Executive Department, which do not comport with laws on the books (DOMA is still a law, binding), then what value is this useless state-funded instrument of supposed religion?<\/p>\n

If Chaplains cannot muster their testicles for this fight, then who needs them?<\/p>\n
