I know that this is not 2006, that things are different, that the stakes have changed. Perhaps the PResident could have explained how the economic realities are not now what they were then, and that simple-minded Republicans always leap to excoriate Democrats as demagogues and liars who value politics above process, and their own careers above the country.
Obama the Liar, explaining the difference:

“I think that it’s important to understand the vantage point of a senator versus the vantage point of a … president. When you’re a senator, traditionally what’s happened is, this is always a lousy vote. Nobody likes to be tagged as having increased the debt limit for the United States by a trillion dollars. … As president, you start realizing: ‘You know what? We — we can’t play around with this stuff. This is the full faith in credit of the United States.’ And so that was just a example of a new senator, you know, making what is a political vote as opposed to doing what was important for the country. And I’m the first one to acknowledge it.”

The breath-taking assumptions in this quote come too fast to absorb all at once. Is he implying that A) Senators are unfit for public office, and B) experience counts in government? Funny, he relied upon both of those being false for his election, and the pathetic tools in our corrupt media let him get away with it. You can pick through it, but by now you surely get the point.
Are we supposed to simply accept bald-faced lies? It’s not as though he’s telling the truth now, by the way. We won’t default, for crying out loud. What we *will* do is

Pay our bills first

Prioritize remaining spending

Acept the fact that some things just won’t be funded

For those of you keeping score at home, it’s that last one that has our communist Democrats so terrified. And that’s why the big scare about not raising the debt ceiling.

I suppose I could wail and gnash my teeth over how angry I am, etc. But at this point I’m far past accepting this as true, and simply trying to show unequivocal documentation to those who are less inclined to agree that he is, in fact, a liar.
Senator Obama, 2006:

“Increasing America’s debt weakens us domestically and internationally.
