Donald Trump is a seasoned executive and leader, but still new in his present job. Like all newbies he is getting a lesson in how things work, unfortunately, it is going to be a very painful lesson for We the People.<\/p>\n
I’ve read here and elsewhere that President Trump’s dance with the Democrats is a master tactic to expose the division and dysfunction of the Republicans. That division and dysfunction is legion for all to see. The President’s goal in dealing with Chuck and Nancy isn’t necessarily to enact long term meaningful Democrat priorities. His goal appears to be get something\/anything done and shame Republicans into unifying and passing an agenda closer to his priorities.<\/p>\n
I’ve no idea if this is in fact his strategy, but hope this is the case and not that he is surrendering to his New York limousine liberal roots and those of his registered Democrat children. The problem with the strategy – as is usually the case – is Republican management (the words Republican and leadership have no place being linked)<\/p>\n
Republican management want Obamacare firmly in place, they just want to be in charge of it to extend credits an breaks to their donor constituency. Republicans want the debt ceiling raised endlessly so debt may be issued to extend credits and subsidies to their donor constituency. Republicans do not want a wall or good faith immigration enforcement so their donor constituency may exploit third world labor. The list goes on and only serves to highlight President Trump’s naivety – he isn’t playing 2 different sides off of one another – he is being played by the same crooked mafia that just wear different letters on their sweaters.<\/p>\n
He was sent there – and promised – to drain the swamp. The swamp is infested by Democrats and Republicans. The labels differentiate them only in which class of folks they exploit for their own gain. R and D do not denote any meaningful difference in policy or priority.<\/p>\n
Republicans are quite happy to sit back and get all the legislation they wished enacted by Trump and retain the ability to blame the Democrats while Republicans reap the donor bounty. At the center of it all is a capable, patriotic leader getting a face full of on the job training that will only be obvious to him years down the road. In the meantime we pay the price.<\/p>\n
