DACA was an executive order of Obama’s that allowed illegals of any age<\/em><\/del> to stay in the US if they came over when they were young. \u00a0\"\"<\/a>Most of those people are going to be adults big enough to take their lumps. \u00a0The average DACA bum would be something like forty<\/del> years old.<\/p>\n

President Obama did not have the power to write law, and immigration law is not the same as enforcement. \u00a0This was one more of the many ways in which his “I have a phone and a pen” threat to issue laws from the desk was implemented, right between the eyes of the rule of law. \u00a0Obama’s desk laws are not valid, and are what a tyranny is made of.<\/p>\n

There was a right way to do DACA, but that was not it, and now it has been rescinded.<\/p>\n

From the San Diego Union-Tribune:<\/p>\n

…heartlessly dashing the hopes of 800,000 well-meaning dreamers would be a self-defeating act that would mar America\u2019s image as a beacon around the world. Ryan and McConnell need to rescue more than DACA. They need to rescue the idea of America as a land of compassion.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

The only thing that needs rescuing is the rule of law in this country. \u00a0No President gets to write law from his desk. \u00a0DACA was an illegal accommodation of illegal immigrants, and it well deserved to be\u00a0struck down or rescinded. Please remember that Congress did<\/em> weigh in on this, and declined to enact such a piece of lawlessness. Obama then tried to end-run the Constitution. Kicking it back to Congress is fine, if that is what the administration is doing. \u00a0So is stabbing the thing and walking quickly away. \u00a0Let them once again<\/em>\u00a0hold the line on the rule of law — no amnesty, no way. \u00a0Jose<\/em>.<\/p>\n

[edit: I was more or less wrong about the lack of age provision. \u00a0I was looking at a projection, assuming the thing worked over unknown time to come — but not a valid assumption for the current situation.]<\/p>\n
