Here’s a clear example of a Domestic Enemy.
One of the groups demanding the statue’s removal is the Humboldt State University student group, Movimiento Estudiantil Chicanco de Aztlan, whatever that means.
I’ll tell you what that means, Mark Steyn — it means Death to America. We used to illustrate a point about Israel by thinking about America as if Gaza were Mexico. And now it is.
In the eyes of the Calistinians, Israel has no right to exist just as America has no right to exist. In other news from another front, one of our governmental bodies has finally decided that China is playing to defeat us, not for parity.
- FBI Director Christopher Wray issued a dire warning about China’s growing influence during a Senate Intelligence Committee hearing on Tuesday.
- He said there were a variety of ways China was implementing a plan to replace the US as the foremost global power, including by infiltrating academia
He said we should look at the Chinese as a “whole-of-society threat” requiring a “whole-of-society response” from the US. I am glad that Director Wray said this. It’s late and it’s woefully narrow in scope, but it’s better than the usual nonsense. While he’s at it, I wonder if he could come up with anything on the manifest, admitted, motivated and ascendant domestic enemies also resident in our universities, our workplaces, and yes our government and military.
Aztlan (which is not a word in Spanish) is Mexican for “Death to America”. Spain is a European country steeped perhaps overlong in its Catholicism. Mexico is a shithole with a deathwish. Chris Wray seems to be one of the good guys. If he’s willing to be so blunt about our China problem, there’s hope. I’ll give him time to work.
Meanwhile, I won’t slow down for an Aztlan protest. I know they mean me harm. They say so in no uncertain terms.
