SOTU Diagnosis- A Curmudgeon Reflects

My diagnosis on the SOTU address.

The messaging was tasked to emotionally convince both men and women in different ways that they belong to a group, Americans, who do heroic things, who have empathy, who help the needy, who nurture the babies, who lay down their lives for others as an act of love. We act together, we grieve together and we fix things together.

He showed people, not faceless government as the engine of virtue.

The use of visuals was masterful, his delivery was comforting, not bombastic. He shared his feelings with all of us.
It was pitch perfect and while not soaring prose, the emotions invoked were soaring and that is what counts. I recall Reagan made me feel good. This one made me feel more than that.

The visuals the Democrats offered were all dark, negative and painful to watch. He gave them a chance to be the loyal opposition, who share the goals and have different means. They declined that role. They are out to take back their power. It is as if he knew they would and created a prime time show for them to prove it to the American people.

Well constructed, TKC. I’ll take this over soaring rhetoric any day. The Dems are now thoroughly unmasked, a miracle. Most importantly, our nation’s is trending back towards sanity. Close call…

Ahhh, hang tight a day or so. Yes, the dems didn’t end up looking good, but this is a long war. Dems have turned defeat into victory too many times to be dismissed.

OTOH IF the memo release puts the dems in really bad light, then we’re good. Considering all the panic over the release, I am hoping this doesn’t turn out like Capone’s safe. But if the Obama administration used false claims to obtain FISA warrants to spy on Trump, there may well be hell to pay.

For all his bombastic behavior, Trump has played this well. His speech has suddenly put the dems in the position of being against much of essential America. Their blind hatred of Trump has clouded their political judgement. Pelosi is making idiotic statements. Schiff is an idiot, so one can dismiss his statements out of hand. Comey actually invoked McCarthy today, as interesting name to bring up, seeing as history has vindicated many if not most of his accusations of communists in government.

Yes, the Democrats refused to cheer for an American war hero, an American policeman, an American worker, an American business, brokenhearted American parents, good American economic news, a refugee from North Korea, tax cuts, jobs, or anything. Trump gave them plenty of opportunities to applaud America, and they declined.
