Please Do Not Hotlink

Please use the media library here to post images, even in comments. Hotlinking is using an image from another site without the common courtesy of stealing it proper. Hotlinking not only uses somebody else’s property without their permission (let’s call it fair use), but then steals bandwidth by calling the image from their site every time a visitor here loads the local page (minus cache, etc). Nobody here profits from such use, and I assume fair use by all posters here, an assumption which I also graciously extend to myself. Thank me. I’m welcome. I still reserve the right to do Amazon links or some such thing, but even then I won’t profit from the presence of somebody else’s images. “Money” posts will be squeaky clean. Note that I would have to change the banner up top. I am not a lawyer, but that’s how I see fair use and good faith.
Hotlinking, on the other hand, not only steals bandwidth and storage from somewhere els, it also increases the amount of bandwidth required in a galactic sense. My text-file sensibilities become perturbed.
Nobody has raised a fuss, and I’m grateful for the efforts of posters here to work around issues. Please continue! I just noticed this one a while back, and was busy at the time.
There is also a security risk aspect to this — not to the site, but to each client PC that views a BDB page with hotlinked content.

Will you be working to adjust the ease to posting pics? Last time I tried it was rather cumbersome. Thank you.

I just posted a map. I think I did it the way you asked here. Let me know if not. Thx.
