Rainy Days

I like rain because it reminds me of my childhood in the Pacific Northwest. I don’t like downpours as much as drizzle. A rainy day with a book is wondrous. Also the thing about having the drizzle it making the sunny days that much more special.

It’s been rainy here for a few days, now I’m ready for some sun. But I’ll mention, we were on vacation recently in Maine & took a ferry out to Monhegan Island, and on the return trip, late afternoon, a blanket of fog rolled over the island as it receded in the distance; and a ‘fog bow’ appeared – a white rainbow arcing through the blanket. I’d never seen one before, the ship’s mate pointed it out to everyone – very cool!

I read that as fog bow as bow of a ship not bow as in rainbow. That must have been amazing. Did you take a picture I can put up, Pencil?

I’m sorry, I did not take a photo. It was subtle, a brighter white on top of the gray fog bank, but it was a perfect arc, not irregular like a misty cloud would be, so you did notice it.

The rain has been trying, really trying here but it still hasn’t made its Autumn appearance. The weather guy is promising tonight and tomorrrow: we’ll see.
