Taming the Wild Donkey

Sometimes a meeting is about who was there and not what was decided.

The Democrats have been spouting apoplectic vitriol about POTUS for months now, some of it insane, some obscene, some treasonous.

I enjoy listening to the twaddle from Convention Wisdom paid pundits, looking at the recent Trump- Pelosi , Schumer session in terms of the transaction.

For POTUS to win, he needs leverage against the entrenched GOP. For that he needs some vulnerable democrats to work with him on healthcare, taxes, infrastructure and more.

The optics from that meeting is that Schumer and Pelosi, the closest thing the Dems have to leaders can work with POTUS and make deals. That signals the vulnerable to go ahead.  The win in the meeting was breaking the diatribe by senior Dems.

Heidi Heitkamp, D- ND flew home with POTUS in AF1.

The “Resistance” is becoming the “Collaboration”.

Maybe part of the result of that deal making session is that recalcitrant Dems feel safe to deal with POTUS, but the primary goal, which was ably met by Trump, was to scare the Bejeezus out of the GOP leadership.

The goal for Trump is to get done what is necessary for our citizens, and if he has to break a few bones to get it done, so be it. The GOP swamp weasels are now officially on probation with Trump. He, in turn, has shown no proclivity to back down in the face of these “powerful” legislative leaders. Good!

I wonder how this will play with the Dem base: all those people who went to the Women’s March, the Science March, the Why-Didn’t-Hillary-Win March, whatever.

Consider the blowback DiFi and Pelosi have faced for not towing the party line on Trump and Antifa, respectively.

Is “towing” a Freudian slip? It is a heavy line. I kid.

The Dem base? Who could know, since they operate post-logically and completely emotionally.

Ha! Maybe they are towing the party towards the center from the insane hard leftists who have taken over.

I think it’s “toeing the line”. Came from red-line prisons where the prisoners were required to form up outside their cells, toes on the red line – or “toeing the line”.

The Democrat establishment will dial the violence and vitriol down. It’s been theirs to adjust all along.

BDB is spot on. Their polling is telling them that 2018 will be a disaster if they are the party of Antifa, resistance, BLM and anti Americanism.

Watch for a change in approach.

        Agreed!

The dems, more than any faction existing before of after the Birth of Christ, act entirely in their self interest. (The GOP is first runner up, at 99% adherence to love of their reflection in the water.) Whatever approach the Dems take, advocate or advertise via the captive media, it will be to their benefit, above all.

If this tactic motivates Mitch McConnell to start throwing McCain, Murkowski, and the lady from Maine off of committee assignments and otherwise demeaning them to get in line then it may be worth it.

The problem is McConnell is probably quite happy that we are throwing away any shred of fiscal restraint so to him it is probably a push.
