An Old English Dream

Just love this song.  Found it by accident on the back end of this recording of A Salty Dog.  Who knew Procol Harum was still touring?  Well, ten years ago.

This link goes (should go anyway) to the beginning of the second, song An Old English Dream.

I enjoyed this – still has the distinctive voice, very nice to hear again.

When you mentioned Procol Harum in the Village of the Darned meeting, I neglected to mention that I had partied with those guys back in the early 70s. Yes, that’s right, your mild-mannered resident physicist went to London with his college buddy, who later became a big-time music producer. But even back then this guy had connections, probably ’cause his old man was a big-time entertainment lawyer in New York.

Peter and I attended a Procol Harum concert in London c. 1972 and went to the afterparty. I don’t indulge in illegal substances but there were plenty around, along with abundant alcohol in which I did (still do) partake. Suffice it to say that I don’t remember too much from that night except for stumbling into a black cab to get back to the hotel.

Much later, I learned that Peter had married a former Conservative MP who now famously hates Trump and spins weird conspiracy theories. I feel like this story has come full circle.
