Dateline: Houston, Texas
President Trump and the First Lady arrived in Houston yesterday to survey the damage wrought by Hurricane Harvey. But the purpose of the trip was overshadowed by reactions to Melania Trump’s footwear, which is obviously of much greater import than a little water damage, thousands of lost houses and businesses, and some dead people. I mean let’s get our priorities straight here. Am I right?
On the ground at the White House, CNN’s I.M. Amoron reported: “Melania Trump just boarded the plane in stiletto heels. One has to wonder what she was thinking when she got dressed this morning. It looks to me like she was thinking only of herself as usual. It’s just more evidence of the disconnect. Which is my new favorite word. Back to you, Wolf.”
And here in Houston, as Melania Trump arrived at a press conference in jeans and sneakers, CNN’s B. Partisan reported, “And here comes the First Lady in sneakers. I mean please. Who does she think she’s fooling with that? She’s obviously slumming and giving a thumb in the eye to the common people. What’s that, Wolf? I can’t… oh, er, back to you, Wolf.”

And MSNBC reported that the First Lady showed an incredible lack of empathy by wearing high heels, and an incredible lack of empathy by wearing sneakers.
I agree they really went overboard when they talked about shoes. What fools!! We all know it is the socks that make the woman.
Only you Right Angles would have the hard hitting guts to ask, Vogue or Elle?

I am glad you are safe, Right Angles.
Thanks, Dime!
Compared to the last five First Ladies, Melania has been very low-key. How can the media believe that she can be turned into a figure of hate?
I agree. It’s really a stretch, but they’re doing it anyway.
Loved the CNN reporter interviewing a dog. You photoshopped that, didn’t you. You devil you.
Hahaha! It was a reporter at a dog show. I did Photoshop the CNN logo onto her mike. How could I resist?
Excellento post, RA. Your sense of humor is intact, I see. I’m only here now, BTW.
Trinity! You’re kidding! Well I can’t say I didn’t see it coming. And Outlaw got banned after writing a scathing letter to the moderators. Is he here? Anyway thank you.
Is there a copy of the letter Right Angles?
*!
Who’s “Outlaw?”
His screen name was Outlaw and then some numbers.I forget what they were, but it was like Outlaw 2786 or something.
outlaws6688 methinks. No, not here at least not by that name.
Yes, that was it.
As a wise philosopher* once said, “extremism in pursuit of moderation is not nice.” But I say, “if you think they’re going to kick you out anyway then leave no moderator unscathed.” In fact, the scholars nominally in charge over there might benefit from a little vigorous scathing as well.
*OK, it was a US Senator and not a philosopher, least of all a wise one, who said this or something like it anyway. Of course, in comparison to the rogues gallery of preening, prevaricating, self-serving grifters currently infesting the upper house, Goldwater was a demigod.
It was great talking to you, Right Angles. Sorry about the foul weather you have been in. (If you know what I mean.) Thanks for being our Correspondent to nether places. It seems you are in the need waders recently.
Thanks, it was fun. Sorry I had to hang up so fast. All is well now.
