For perspective…

RT @DanCrenshawTX And now for your deliberately misleading headline of the day... They don’t mention it is a Mexican soldier, in Mexico. Their goal is to convince you it’s an American. It’s dishonest. And it’s why the media can’t regain our trust. apple.news/AbvUuoyT2RQWoV…

I have an entire section of my personal library at home dedicated to presidents. Of course Washington, Lincoln, and the Gipper get a lot more space than the others, but I do have two biographies on HST. One of them is written by America’s greatest historian- David McCullough- and this story about his daughter Margaret is one of my favorites.
Thanks for reminding me!
It is the double standard test. One humor gets a pass and is allowed. Even Shakespeare in the park is allowed but go Wrestlemania which is in many ways slapstick humor on steroids and one has crossed the line.
The media needs to have fun with it. They need to end one of their broadcast with a wrestling taunt. “Donald, Doooooonald!!! ….” (Of course they won’t do it because they are into “There were cross-hairs on a graphic.” mode. It is Palin’s fault .)
I wonder if the WWE will make money out of having a Newsman Wrestler. I don’t know have they already done that.
Do you not watch The Five and my man Tyrus? http://www.wrestlezone.com/…/778395-tyrus-reveals-how-he-was-discovered-for-fox-news...
One difference between Truman’s letter and Trump’s tweets is that the letter was not made public until many years after Truman was no longer president, whereas Trump’s tweets are instantly public. If Truman had sent a letter to the editor to the WaPo and they published it, that would be more analogous to the tweets.
Donald doesn’t tweet about his family; they appear to be able to handle themselves quite effectively without him. His job is to attack the issues and the people sponsoring those issues that are harming our country.
Nonetheless, Margaret’s story is charming and indicative of the wonderful family life HST enjoyed.
The children of presidents have, for the most part, been treated well by the media. Nobody is really hassling Ivanka and her siblings because they’re too tough and too successful.
My favorite presidential kids were the Bush girls because they were always getting into trouble for drinking margaritas in college bars (gasp!) and the Nixon sisters. As one of Nixon’s enemies said, “He can’t be that bad a man to have raised two girls like that.”
P.S. Gerald Ford’s sons rank high on my list as well, but I’m afraid for more superficial reasons. :)
Et malheureusement, I didn’t care for ANY of the Reagan kids. That was a shame; a lot of good DNA went to waste there…
