Three Chairs for BDB’s

I just bought a new chair. I have gone backless. I am getting a standing desk and this will be the chair I will use with it. Before this I have worked in a typical low back with arm rests office chair and with a high back with arm rests office chair.

I was going to put a picture on this post of the new chair but I hear BDB has a strict policy of no photos of stool samples. (Is this true, MLH?)

What type of office chairs have you used? What chair are you using now? For Pencil, where do you park your eraser?

I see 1 person really liked this chair, was that you Dime? And does this mean you’ve finally figured out IKEA’s rebus-like assembly manual?

And here I thought it was a modern rendition of a mushroom.

    “I am getting a standing desk…”

That is sooo Donald Rumsfeld. So why then do you need a chair?

I can’t expect you to stand when you come to visit, can I?

        “…when you come visit.”

?Are you smoking that funny stuff again. Dangerous for a cotton candy.

  2. EThompson says:

    Don would have. :)

The Balt Butterfly is the best. It even has a body armor rack.

Any particular brand/type of standing desk?

My brother has a Varidesk atop an antique desk, but he only uses it to raise his monitors to eye level when sitting in a normal chair.

I have been thinking about getting a standing desk.

I currently have an old staples chair that I took the armrests off of due to shoulder problems.

I have an ergotron , who also makes medical equipment. Solid, smooth and it works flawlessly.

Monitor, keyboard and small tray all move in unison so once you get them right, they stay right even after you stand or sit. It also handles people up to six six. Many of the desks do not go high enough if you are over six feet.

I should probably get a varidesk, would be better for me – do they tilt at all, like a drawing table? Right now I have an old wooden drawing table but i adjust the tilt to where it’s comfortable to draw for me. The Broadway caricaturist Al Hirschfeld used to sit in a reclaimed barber’s chair to draw, that must have been nice! I sit in a pretty comfy office-type chair now, got 2 of them at my church’s last rummage sale for $10 bucks each.

Pencil, my desk when it comes will not tilt but will be able to be raised and lowered. I have no idea if I will like it or not. I figure standing is better than sitting for it is better for the legs and heart.

I was also thinking about a standing desk. I’d like to hear how it works out.

I had someone make longer legs for desk. It was quite hard to find a tall enough chair (I prefer to sit when I type — I hate typing) put for writing, the tall desk is great.

Some of the “ergonomic” chairs are really bad and pews would be much better. Normal spinal curves are not as big a people think.

I don’t think you can post a pic in comments. Paste a link here if you have it from online somewhere.

Ok, there was supposed to be an image of a bar lounge here.

What type of chair does the Valdmeinster use? How do you manage your assets?
